EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Ioann 8:1-11
Tu ergo quid dicis?
Gospel
John 8:1-11
At that time, Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. And at daybreak He came again into the temple, and all the people came to Him; and sitting down He began to teach them. Now the Scribes and Pharisees brought a woman caught in adultery, and setting her in the midst, said to Him, Master, this woman has just now been caught in adultery. And in the Law Moses commanded us to stone such persons. What, therefore, do You say? Now they were saying this to test Him, in order that they might be able to accuse Him. But Jesus, stooping down, began to write with His finger on the ground. But when they continued asking Him, He raised Himself and said to them, Let him who is without sin among you be the first to cast a stone at her. And again stooping down, He began to write on the ground. But hearing this, they went away, one by one, beginning with the eldest. And Jesus remained alone, with the woman standing in the midst. And Jesus, raising Himself, said to her, Woman, where are they? Has no one condemned you? She said, No one, Lord. Then Jesus said, Neither will I condemn you. Go your way, and from now on sin no more.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – SABATO 9 MARZO 2024 ORE 17.30:
FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
From the book of the prophet Daniel.
In those days there lived in Babylon a man called Jehoakim. He had married a woman called Susanna, daughter of Elcia, beautiful and God-fearing, her parents, who were righteous, having brought up their daughter according to the law of Moses. The justice of Moses (the death sentence, they were quartered) was applied to the two lying judges who unjustly accused Susanna.
From the Gospel according to St. John.
At that time Jesus went to the Mount of Olives. But at daybreak he returned to the temple again, and all the people flocked to him and he sat down and taught them. Then the Scribes and the Pharisees brought him a woman caught in adultery and, placing her in the middle, they said to him: «Master, this woman was caught in flagrant adultery. Now Moses in the law commanded us to kill such women with stones; and what do you say?”. In the first reading, Susanna’s sentence was unjust. God intervenes to save the righteous through the prophet Daniel. Instead, the adulterous woman is guilty. But Jesus forgives her with the recommendation not to sin again. This is because Jesus took on our sins and forgives us if we sincerely repent.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
