DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Hebr 7:23-27
Andate! Ecco, io vi mando come agnelli in mezzo a lupi.

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Heb 7:23-27
Brethren: The priests were numerous, because they were prevented by death from continuing in office; but Jesus, because he continues forever, has an everlasting priesthood. Therefore He is able at all times to save those who come to God through Him, since He lives always to make intercession for them. For it was fitting that we should have such a high priest, holy, innocent, undefiled, set apart from sinners, and become higher than the heavens. He does not need to offer sacrifices daily – as the other priests did – first for His own sins, and then for the sins of the people; for this latter He did once for all in offering up Himself, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Jesus Christ, unlike the Levitical priests, is a priest forever and therefore intercedes for us until the end of time!
The Lord has appointed 72 more disciples. Sent like lambs among wolves. Don’t greet anyone on the street. If they notice you at home, eat what is placed in front of you and tell them that the Kingdom of God is near!
How suitable is this gospel for Saints Cyril and Methodius, brothers and sons of a magistrate from Thessalonica. They were sent to Moravia to evangelize the Slavic peoples. This is why they invented the Cyrillic alphabet.
Their purpose was to make the Gospel known. It was an initiative started by the Pope of Rome. Cyril will go to Rome to a Benedictine monastery.
We too want the rapprochement of the Orthodox Church. But we cannot speed things up with individual initiatives. It must be a fruit of the Holy Spirit and of the good will of Christians. We cannot therefore make communion with them because the perfect communion of faith with them does not yet exist. This is a substantial difference that we cannot erase on our own. Discernment is needed.
We are now living in the time of waiting and vacation of the papacy of Rome.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
