Evangelium
Ioann 10:22-38
Gospel
John 10:22-38
At that time, there took place at Jerusalem the feast of the Dedication; and it was winter. And Jesus was walking in the temple, in Solomon’s portico. The Jews therefore gathered round Him, and said to Him, How long do You keep us in suspense? If You are the Christ, tell us openly. Jesus answered them, I tell you and you do not believe. The works that I do in the name of My Father, these bear witness concerning Me. But you do not believe because you are not of My sheep. My sheep hear My voice, and I know them and they follow Me. And I give them everlasting life; and they shall never perish, neither shall anyone snatch them out of My hand. What My Father has given Me is greater than all; and no one is able to snatch anything out of the hand of My Father. I and the Father are one. The Jews therefore took up stones to stone him. Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shown you from My Father. For which of these works do you stone Me? The Jews answered Him, Not for a good work do we stone you, but for blasphemy, and because You, being a man, make Yourself God. Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your Law, ‘I said you are gods?’ If He called them gods to whom the word of God was addressed – and the Scripture cannot be broken, – do you say of Him Whom the Father has made holy and sent into the world, ‘You blaspheme,’ because I said, ‘I am the Son of God’? If I do not perform the works of My Father, do not believe Me. But if I do perform them, and if you are not willing to believe Me, believe the works, that you may know and believe that the Father is in Me and I in the Father.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – ORARI S.MESSA DI MERCOLEDI 6 APRILE 2022, ORE 8.00

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
Lev 19:1-2, 11-19, 25

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)
Lev 19: 1-2, 11-19, 25 In those days the Lord spoke to Moses saying: “Speak to the whole assembly of the children of Israel like this: I am the Lord your God.
Joann 10: 22-38 At that time: the feast of the Dedication was held in Jerusalem; and it was winter. Jesus was walking. in the temple, under the portico of Solomon. Then the Jews crowded around him, and said to him: “How long will you keep our souls suspended? If you are the Christ, tell us openly ». Jesus answered them: “I told you, and you do not believe: the works I do in my Father’s name, these bear witness to me. But you do not believe, because you are not of my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them and they follow me. And I give them eternal life and they will never perish, and no one will snatch them from my hand.
The Gospel shows us the Jews who accuse Jesus of blasphemy.
These are people (the Jews) who knew Jesus but did not believe by closing their eyes. In fact, it was impossible not to believe.
In this way Jesus teaches us a criterion of discernment: from the fruits you will recognize if the tree is good.
At first it may not be easy to discern if a fruit is good. In fact, there are wild trees that have beautiful but very bitter fruits.
Indeed, it is necessary to go beyond appearances, what man shows. It is necessary to see the intentions deep in the heart.
Therefore, prudence is needed to find out what’s behind it!
The Jews are not part of God’s flock, despite being children of Abraham and therefore all credentials.
But this is not enough, appearances are not enough!
Praised be Jesus Christ. Always be praised!
