Evangelium Matt 12:38-50
In illo témpore: Respondérunt Iesu quidam de scribis et pharisǽis, dicéntes: Magíster, vólumus a te signum vidére. Qui respóndens, ait illis: Generátio mala et adúltera signum quærit: et signum non dábitur ei, nisi signum Ionæ Prophétæ. Sicut enim fuit Ionas in ventre ceti tribus diébus et tribus nóctibus: sic erit Fílius hóminis in corde terræ tribus diébus et tribus nóctibus. Viri Ninivítæ surgent in iudício cum generatióne ista, et condemnábunt eam: quia pæniténtiam egérunt in prædicatióne Ionæ. Et ecce plus quam Ionas hic. Regína Austri surget in iudício cum generatióne ista, et condemnábit eam: quia venit a fínibus terræ audire sapiéntiam Salomónis. Et ecce plus quam Sálomon hic. At that time, certain of the Scribes and Pharisees answered Him, saying: Master, we would see a sign from You. But He answered and said to them, An evil and adulterous generation demands a sign, and no sign shall be given it but the sign of Jonah the prophet. For even as Jonah was in the belly of the fish three days and three nights, so will the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth. The men of Ninive will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; for they repented at the preaching of Jonah, and behold, a greater than Jonah is here. The queen of the South will rise up in the judgment with this generation and will condemn it; for she came from the ends of the earth to hear the wisdom of Solomon, and behold, a greater than Solomon is here. But when the unclean spirit has gone out of a man, he roams through dry places in search of rest, and finds none. Then he says, ‘I will return to my house which I left’; and when he has come to it, he finds the place unoccupied, swept and decorated. Then he goes and takes with him seven other spirits more evil than himself, and they enter in and dwell there; and the last state of that man becomes worse than the first. So shall it be with this evil generation also. While He was still speaking to the crowds, His mother and His brethren were standing outside, seeking to speak to Him. And someone said to Him, Behold, Your mother and Your brethren are standing outside, seeking You. But He answered and said to him who told Him, Who is My mother and who are My brethren? Exod 24:12-18
In quei giorni il Signore disse a Mosè: «Sali da me sul monte e fermati lì, ché io ti darò le tavole di pietra, la legge e i precetti che ho scritto, a loro istruzione».
3 Reg 19:3-8
In quel tempo: Elia, giunto che fu a Bersabee, città della Giudea, licenziò il suo servo, e s’inoltrò nel deserto per una giornata di cammino. Postosi poi a sedere sotto un ginepro, augurandosi la morte, esclamò: «Basta, o Signore! Or prendi l’anima mia; ché io non sono migliore dei miei padri».
Matt 12:38-50
Ma egli, rispose: «Chi è mia madre, e chi sono i miei fratelli?». E stesa la mano verso i suoi discepoli disse: «Ecco la mia madre e i miei fratelli, poiché chi fa la volontà del Padre mio che è nei cieli, esso mi è fratello, sorella e madre».
E’ il mercoledi della quattor tempora. Abbiamo udito tre letture.
Nel Vangelo Gesu’ afferma che “La condizione finale di quell’uomo (di generazione malvagia e adultera) sara’ peggiore di quella iniziale. Così accadrà anche a questa generazione malvagia”.
Nella Quaresima dobbiamo pregare ed espiare per quaranta giorni come Giona.
Cosi’ Ninive venne salvata grazie ai quaranta giorni di preghiera ed espiazione.
Il nostro obbiettivo in questo tempo difficile e’ appunto questo: non aspettiamoci miracoli, ma prepariamoci con la preghiera e l’espiazione!
Che questa Quaresima sia impegnata in questi compiti! La preghiera vale contro la guerra!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo. Sempre sia lodato!

Exod 24: 12-18 In those days the Lord said to Moses: “Come up to me on the mountain and stop there, for I will give you the tablets of stone, the law and the precepts that I have written, for their instruction.”
Reg 19: 3-8 At that time: Elijah, having come to Beersheba, a city of Judea, dismissed his servant, and went into the desert for a day’s journey. He then sat down under a juniper, wishing himself death, and exclaimed: «Enough, oh Lord! Now take my soul; because I am not better than my fathers ».
Matt 12: 38-50 But he said, “Who is my mother, and who are my brothers?” And he stretched out his hand to his disciples and said: “Behold my mother and my brothers, for whoever does the will of my Father who is in heaven, he is my brother, sister and mother.”
It is the Wednesday of the quattor tempora.
We have heard three readings. In the Gospel, Jesus states that “The final condition of that man (of an evil and adulterous generation) will be worse than the initial one. So it will also happen to this wicked generation ”.
In Lent we must pray and atone for forty days like Jonah. Thus Nineveh was saved thanks to forty days of prayer and atonement.
Our goal in this difficult time is precisely this: let’s not expect miracles, but let’s prepare ourselves with prayer and atonement!
May this Lent be engaged in these tasks! Prayer is valid against war!
