EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Ioann 2:13-25

Gospel
ohn 2:13-25
At that time, the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And He found in the temple men selling oxen, sheep and doves, and money-changers at their tables. And making a kind of whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, also the sheep and oxen, and He poured out the money of the changers and overturned the tables. And to them who were selling the doves He said, Take these things away, and do not make the house of My Father a house of business. And His disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of Your house has eaten Me up. The Jews therefore answered and said to Him, What sign do You show us, seeing that You do these things? In answer Jesus said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up. The Jews therefore said, Forty-six years has this temple been in building, and will You raise it up in three days? But He was speaking of the temple of His body. When, accordingly, He had risen from the dead, His disciples remembered that He had said this, and they believed the Scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken. Now when He was at Jerusalem for the feast of the Passover, many believed in His name, seeing the signs that He was working. But Jesus did not trust Himself to them, in that He knew all men, and because He had no need that anyone should bear witness concerning man, for He Himself knew what was in man.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – LUNEDI 11 MARZO 2024 ORE 17.30:
Salomone prefigura l’eterno nostro giudice, Gesu Cristo.
FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
From the third book of Kings.
In those days two women of bad life came to King Solomon, and when they presented themselves to him, one said: «I beg you, my lord! Living in the same house with this woman, I gave birth next to her in the room; and on the third day after my birth, she also gave birth. We were together, and no one else except the two of us was with us in that house. Now this woman’s son having died during the night, suffocated by her while he slept, she, getting up in the silence of the dead of night, took my son from the side of me, your servant, who was asleep, and placed him on her breast, and placed his dead son in my lap.
From the Gospel according to St. John.
At that time: as the Passover of the Jews was approaching, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And he found in the temple sellers of oxen, sheep and doves and money changers at their stalls. And making a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple with the sheep and oxen, scattered the money of the money changers, and overturned their stalls. At that time, as the Passover of the Jews was near, Jesus went up to Jerusalem. And he found in the temple sellers of oxen, sheep and doves and money changers at their stalls. And making a scourge of cords, he drove them all out of the temple with the sheep and oxen, scattered the money of the money changers, and overturned their stalls. Then he said to the dove sellers: “Take these things away from here and do not make my Father’s house a market house.” But Jesus did not entrust himself to them, because he knew them all; and he did not need anyone else to give him information about man, knowing for himself what was in man. Solomon prefigures our eternal judge, Jesus Christ. Jesus demonstrates his authority to all of us. He therefore chases the merchants out of the temple, fulfilling the prophecy.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
