EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Matt 17:1-9
Gospel
Matt 17:1-9
At that time, Jesus took Peter, James and his brother John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves, and was transfigured before them. And His face shone as the sun, and His garments became white as snow. And behold, there appeared to them Moses and Elias talking together with Him. Then Peter addressed Jesus, saying, Lord, it is good for us to be here. If You will, let us set up three tents here, one for You, one for Moses, and one for Elias. As he was still speaking, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them, and behold, a voice out of the cloud said, This is My beloved Son, in Whom I am well pleased; hear Him. And on hearing it the disciples fell on their faces and were exceedingly afraid. And Jesus came near and touched them, and said to them, Arise, and do not be afraid. But lifting up their eyes, they saw no one but Jesus only. And as they were coming down from the mountain, Jesus cautioned them, saying, Tell the vision to no one, till the Son of Man has risen from the dead.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – LUNEDI 26 FEBBRAIO 2024 ORE 17.30:
Joann 8:21-29
FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
From the book of the prophet Daniel.
In those days Daniel the prophet prayed to the Lord saying: «Lord our God, who brought your people out of Egypt with power, and made for yourself a name such as you now possess: we have sinned, we have committed sin against all your commandments.
Joann 8:21-29.
At that time: Jesus said to the crowds of the Jews: «As for me, I am going away, and you will seek me in vain, and you will die in your sin. Where I go, you cannot come.” “Therefore'”. says the Lord, “I told you that you will die in your sins; for if you do not believe who “I am” you will die in your sins.”
In these readings we have heard two different ways of addressing the Lord. In the passage from Daniel he turns to the Lord appealing to his mercy. So we too pray for the Church, the house of the Lord. The sanctuary is devastated. Instead in the Gospel, Jesus accuses the Pharisees of not believing in “I am”, that is, Jesus himself. For this they will die. As for us, we must pursue in the faith acquired from our childhood.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
