EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Marc 6:47-56
Gospel
Mark 6:47-56
At that time, when it was late, the ship was in the midst of the sea, and Jesus alone on the land. And seeing His disciples straining at the oars, for the wind was against them, about the fourth watch of the night He came to them, walking upon the sea, and He would have passed by them. But they, seeing Him walking upon the sea, thought it was a ghost, and cried out. For they all saw Him, and were troubled. Then He immediately spoke to them, and said to them, Take courage; it is I, do not be afraid. And He got into the boat with them, and the wind fell. And they were utterly beside themselves with astonishment, for they had not understood about the loaves, because their heart was blinded. And crossing over, they came to the land of Genesareth and moored the boat. And when they had gotten out of the boat, the people at once recognized Him; and they hurried through the whole country, and began to bring the sick on their pallets, wherever they heard He was. And wherever He went, into village or hamlet or town, they laid the sick in the market places, and entreated Him to let them touch but the tassel of His cloak; and as many as touched Him were saved.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA –SABATO 17 FEBBRAIO 2024 ORE 17.30

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
From the book of the prophet Isaiah.
These things says the Lord God: «If you take off the chain, if you stop threatening and speaking ill of others, if you open your heart to the hungry and console the afflicted, your light will shine in the darkness, your darkness they will become like noon; the Lord will give you eternal rest and will flood your soul with splendors.
From the Gospel according to St. Mark.
At that time: when evening came, the boat was in the middle of the sea, and Jesus all alone on the ground. And seeing the disciples struggling to row because of the contrary wind, about the fourth watch of the night he went towards them, walking on the water; and he wanted to surpass them. But they, seeing him walking on the sea, imagined he was a ghost and shouted, because everyone had seen him and were frightened. In the reading of Isaiah, God rebukes his people who betray their neighbors. Prayers are worth nothing if we close our eyes to our brother’s needs, if we do not have mercy. But Jesus perfects this law to the point of asking us to love and pray for our enemies, so that they repent. It is the Saturday after Ash Wednesday and before the first Sunday of Lent. Nothing is possible without Jesus and the BVM. We need their help to save us. The disciples are crossing Lake Tiberia. But there is a contrary wind. The Lord arrives at the end of the night. The Church is also being tested! Don’t be afraid says Jesus! But all obstacles are less powerful than Jesus! Our faith must therefore increase! This is the purpose of this test! This is why we fear nothing!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
