Matt 6:16-21
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Cum ieiunátis, nolíte fíeri, sicut hypócritæ, tristes. Extérminant enim fácies suas, ut appáreant homínibus ieiunántes. Amen, dico vobis, quia recepérunt mercédem suam. Tu autem, cum ieiúnas, unge caput tuum, et fáciem tuam lava, ne videáris homínibus ieiúnans, sed Patri tuo, qui est in abscóndito: et Pater tuus, qui videt in abscóndito, reddet tibi. Nolíte thesaurizáre vobis thesáuros in terra: ubi ærúgo et tínea demólitur: et ubi fures effódiunt et furántur. At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, When you fast, do not look gloomy like the hypocrites, who disfigure their face in order to appear to men as fasting. Amen I say to you, they have received their reward. But you, when you do fast, anoint your head and wash your face, so that you may not be seen fasting by men, but by your Father, Who is in secret; and your Father, Who sees in secret, will reward you. Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where rust and moth consume, and where thieves break in and steal; but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither rust nor moth consumes, nor thieves break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA(**,1)
Lettura dal libro del Profeta Gioele.
Questo dice il Signore: Convertitevi a me con tutto il vostro cuore, nel digiuno, nelle lacrime e nei sospiri. Il Signore ha mostrato zelo per la sua terra ed ha perdonato al suo popolo. Il Signore ha parlato e ha detto al suo popolo: Ecco, io manderò a voi grano, vino ed olio: e ne avrete in abbondanza, e non permetterò più che voi siate lo scherno delle nazioni: dice il Signore onnipotente.
Dal vangelo secondo S.Matteo apostolo.
In quel tempo: Disse Gesù ai suoi discepoli: Quando digiunate non fate i malinconici [tristi], come gli ipocriti, che sfigurano il proprio volto per far vedere agli uomini che digiunano.
Ricevere la cenere sul capo e’ un atto di devozione presente anche nell’antica alleanza ed anche secondo la fede cristiana secondo cui venivano anche confessati pubblicamente i propri peccati.
Dio ci ha creato dal fango, dandoci poi lo spirito della vita.
E’ questo il momento di un esame di coscienza da parte nostra per cercare i nostri peccati. E allontaniamo da noi ogni ipocrisia perche’ siamo soli davanti al giudizio di Dio. Lui ci aiutera’ a cambiare! Lasciamo entrare la voce di Dio, ascoltiamolo! Dio ci vuole accompagnare ogni giorno della Quaresima! Occorre fare penitenza per ottenere la salvezza della Chiesa!
Ci aiutino anche la Vergine santissima e i nostri santi del Paradiso!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

Reading from the book of the Prophet Joel.
This says the Lord: Convert to me with all your heart, in fasting, in tears and in sighs. The Lord showed zeal for his land and forgave his people. The Lord spoke and said to his people: Behold, I will send you grain, wine and oil: and you will have them in abundance, and I will no longer allow you to be the mockery of the nations: says the Lord almighty.
From the gospel according to St. Matthew the apostle.
At that time: Jesus said to his disciples: When you fast, do not act melancholy [sad], like the hypocrites, who disfigure their faces to show men that they are fasting. Receiving ash on the head is an act of devotion also present in the ancient alliance and also according to the Christian faith according to which one’s sins were also publicly confessed. God created us from mud, then gave us the spirit of life. This is the moment for an examination of conscience on our part to look for our sins. And let us distance ourselves from all hypocrisy because we are alone before God’s judgement. He will help us change! Let’s let God’s voice in, let’s listen to him!
