EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Luc 18:31-43
At ille dixit: Dómine, ut vídeam.
Gospel
Luke 18:31-43
At that time, Jesus taking to Himself the Twelve said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that have been written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. For He will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and scourged and spit upon; and after they have scourged Him, they will put Him to death; and on the third day He will rise again. And they understood none of these things and this saying was hidden from them, neither did they get to know the things that were being said. Now it came to pass as He drew near to Jericho, that a certain blind man was sitting by the wayside, begging; but hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what this might be. And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he cried out, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! And they who went in front angrily tried to silence him. But he cried out all the louder, Son of David, have mercy on me! Then Jesus stopped and commanded that he should be brought to Him. And when he drew near, He asked him, saying, What would you have Me do for you? And he said, Lord, that I may see. And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight, your faith has saved you. And at once he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people upon seeing it gave praise to God.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – DOMENICA 11 FEBBRAIO 2024 ORE 10.30

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
From the letter of Saint Paul the apostle to the Corinthians.
Brothers: Even if I spoke the tongues of men and angels, if I do not have charity I am like resounding brass or a ringing cymbal. And if I had prophecy and understood all mysteries and all science, and if I had all the faith so as to move mountains: if I do not have charity I am nothing. Now we see as in a mirror, by enigma: then then face to face. Now I know in part: then I will know as I am known. For now these three things remain: faith, hope and charity, but the greatest is charity.
From the Gospel according to St. Luke.
At that time: Jesus took the twelve apart and said to them: Behold, we go up to Jerusalem, and everything that was written by the prophets about the Son of man will be fulfilled. Jesus prophesies his crucifixion, death and resurrection after three days. And behold, before reaching Jerusalem, Jesus performs the miracle of healing a man blind from birth [one of the miracles prophesied by the prophets]. And he cried out and said, Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. And those who went ahead scolded him to keep quiet. But he cried out more and more: Jesus, son of David, have mercy on me. And Jesus stopped and ordered them to bring him to him. When he came near him, he questioned him, saying, What do you want me to do to you? And he said: Lord, that I may see. And Jesus said unto him, Behold, thy faith hath saved thee. And [in fact] immediately he saw, and followed him: magnifying God. And all the people, seeing this, gave praise to God. Ash Wednesday begins Lent with the blessing and imposition of ashes. Today we heard the hymn to charity: which will remain forever even after death. Charity is also love/agape towards God and brothers. In fact, even Demons believe, but the important thing is to love. But it must be done with humility because true love is simple. Jesus does not speak of the betrayal he suffered nor of the suffering of the cross. Then there is the miracle of the blind man, which Jesus performs even if he is about to go to his Passion. Today, February 11th, also marks the apparition (to an ignorant but faith-filled 16-year-old peasant girl) of the Madonna in Lourdes in the Pyrenees. With miracles of healing, conversion, spiritual healing and increase in faith. Four years earlier, Pope Pius IX had proclaimed the Dogma of the Immaculate Conception. Dogma that Our Lady in Lourdes confirms by claiming to be “the Immaculate Conception”.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
