Matt 20:20-23
In illo témpore: Accessit ad Iesum mater filiórum Zebedæi cum fíliis suis, adórans et petens áliquid ab eo. Qui dixit ei: Quid vis? Ait illi: Dic, ut sédeant hi duo fílii mei, unus ad déxteram tuam et unus ad sinístram in regno tuo. Respóndens autem Iesus, dixit: Néscitis, quid petátis. Potéstis bíbere cálicem, quem ego bibitúrus sum? Dicunt ei: Póssumus. Ait illis: Cálicem quidem meum bibétis: sedére autem ad déxteram meam vel sinístram, non est meum dare vobis, sed quibus parátum est a Patre meo.

At that time, the mother of the sons of Zebedee came to Jesus with her sons; and worshipping, she made a request of Him. He said to her, What do you want? She said to Him, Command that these my two sons may sit, one at Your right hand and one at Your left hand, in Your kingdom. But Jesus answered and said, You do not know what you are asking for. Can you drink of the cup of which I am about to drink? They said to Him, We can. He said to them, Of My cup you shall indeed drink; but as for sitting at My right hand and at My left, that is not Mine to give you, but it belongs to those for whom it has been prepared by My Father.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Gli apostoli sono diventati gli ultimi tra gli uomini, perseguitati, insultati e oltraggiati.
Tutto per il Nome di Gesu!
Nel Vangelo la madre di Zebedeo chiede a Gesu’ un posto speciale in paradiso per i suoi figli. Gesu’ risponde: non sapete cio’ che chiedete! I posti alla mia destra e alla mia sinistra in Paradiso sono preparati da Dio Padre sin dall’eternita’!
Oggi celebriamo San Giacomo apostolo il Maggiore, figlio di Zebedeo e fratello di San Giovanni.
E’ una famiglia sacerdotale che poteva quindi ambire alla carroera sacerdotale.
Ma la carriera sacerdotale (quella dell’apostolo) nella Chiesa significa condividere le sofferenze di Gesu’ in croce! Significa dare la vita per Gesu’ Cristo come martiri. Il primo martire dieci anni dopo la morte di Gesu’ (nel 44 d.C.) e’ San Giacomo che venne ucciso a Gerusalemme. Il suo copro venne successivamente traslato in Spagna (a San Giacomo di Compostela).
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

The apostles have become the least of men, persecuted, insulted and outraged.
All for the Name of Jesus!
In the Gospel, Zebedee’s mother asks Jesus for a special place in heaven for her children. Jesus replies: you do not know what you are asking! The seats to my right and to my left in Heaven have been prepared by God the Father since eternity!
Today we celebrate St. James the Greater, son of Zebedee and brother of St. John.
It is a priestly family that could therefore aspire to a priestly career.
But the priestly career (that of the apostle) in the Church means sharing the sufferings of Jesus on the cross! It means giving one’s life for Jesus Christ as martyrs. The first martyr ten years after the death of Jesus (in 44 AD) is St. James who was killed in Jerusalem. His body was later transferred to Spain (to San Giacomo di Compostela)-
