DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Eccli 44:1-15
Lodiamo gli uomini virtuosi, i nostri padri secondo i loro tempi. Molta gloria concesse loro il Signore di sua magnificenza fin da principio. Sovrani nei loro regni , furono uomini grandi nel valore, e, forniti di prudenza, onniveggenti per dono profetico; principi delle nazioni per il loro accorgimento, capi del popolo per la loro sagacia; saggi parlatori. Colla loro abilità trovarono le melodie della musica e pubblicarono i cantici delle Scritture. Uomini pieni di virtù , dotati di gusto per la bellezza, vissuti in pace nelle loro case. Tutti questi, tra la gente della loro generazione, ebbero gloria e stima nei loro tempi. Quelli che nacquero da essi lasciarono un nome che fa raccontare le loro lodi. E vi sono degli altri, dei quali non esiste memoria, che perirono come se non fossero mai esistiti, nacquero, ma son come non nati , e con essi i loro figli. Ma quelli furono uomini virtuosi, e le loro opere di pietà non sono state dimenticate. Alla loro posterità ne restano i beni e la loro eredità passa ai nipoti, e i loro posteri stettero fedeli all’alleanza divina. E per merito loro ne rimangono in eterno i figli; la loro stirpe, la loro gloria non sarà mai dimenticata. I loro corpi riposano in pace, ma il loro nome vive nei secoli. Celebrino i popoli la loro sapienza e nelle adunanze si ripetano le loro lodi.
Matth 5:1-12
In quel tempo, Gesù, vedendo la folla , salì sulla montagna; si sedette e i suoi discepoli si disposero accanto a lui ed egli, aprendo la bocca, li istruiva dicendo: «Beati i poveri in ispirito, perché di essi è il regno dei cieli. Beati i miti , perché possederanno la terra. Beati coloro che piangono, perché saranno consolati. Beati coloro che hanno fame e sete di giustizia, perché saranno saziati. Beati i misericordiosi, perché otterranno misericordia. Beati i puri di cuore, perché vedranno Dio. Beati gli operatori di pace, perché saranno chiamati figli di Dio. Beati i perseguitati a causa della giustizia, perché di essi è il regno dei cieli. Beati voi, quando vi insulteranno e vi perseguiteranno, e diranno ogni male contro di voi, mentendo, a causa di me. Godete ed esultate, perché la vostra ricompensa è grande nei cieli».
Celebriamo San Bonifacio, benedettino e martire di nascita inglese. A quarant’anni si reca a Roma per chiedere di essere inviato in Germania per evangelizzare i Sassoni. Fu ucciso durante la S. Messa in Olanda.
Nella Chiesa nulla si compie di propria iniziativa. Questo vale soprattutto per i consacrati, ma non nei tempi di apostasia come il nostro.
Preghiamo dunque questo santo vescovo perche’ ci dia la sua fede eroica!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

Ecclus. 44:1-15.
Let us now praise men of renown, our ancestors, each in his own time. The Lord has wrought great glory through His magnificence from the beginning. Rulers of the earth by their authority, men of renown for their might, or counselors in their wisdom, or seers of all things in prophecy; resolute governors of peoples, or judges with discretion; authors skilled in composition, or poets with collected proverbs; composers of melodious psalms, or discoursers on lyric themes: stalwart men, solidly established, lovers of beauty, and at peace in their own estates – all these were glorious in their time, each illustrious in his day. Some of them have left behind a name that is remembered to their praise; but of others there is no memory, for it perished when they perished, and they are as though they had never lived, they and their children after them. Yet these lived, they and their children after them. Yet these also were godly men whose virtues have not been forgotten; their wealth remains in their families, their posterity are a holy inheritance, and their seed has stood in the covenants. And their children for their sakes remain forever; their seed and their glory shall not be forsaken. All these are buried in peace, but their name lives on and on. At gatherings their wisdom is retold and the assembly sings their praises.

At that time, Jesus seeing the crowds, went up the mountain.
We celebrate St. Boniface, Benedictine and martyr of English birth. At the age of forty he went to Rome to ask to be sent to Germany to evangelize the Saxons. He was killed during the Holy Mass in Holland.
In the Church nothing is done on one’s own initiative. This is especially true for consecrated persons, but not in times of apostasy like our time.
So let us pray to this holy bishop to give us his heroic faith!
