Matt 25:1-13
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis parábolam hanc: Símile erit regnum coelórum decem virgínibus: quæ, accipiéntes lámpades suas, exiérunt óbviam sponso et sponsæ. Quinque autem ex eis erant fátuæ, et quinque prudéntes: sed quinque fátuæ, accéptis lampádibus, non sumpsérunt óleum secum: prudéntes vero accepérunt óleum in vasis suis cum lampádibus. Horam autem faciénte sponso, dormitavérunt omnes et dormiérunt. Média autem nocte clamor factus est: Ecce, sponsus venit, exíte óbviam ei. Tunc surrexérunt omnes vírgines illae, et ornavérunt lámpades suas. Fátuæ autem sapiéntibus dixérunt: Date nobis de óleo vestro: quia lámpades nostræ exstinguúntur. At that time, Jesus spoke this parable to His disciples: Then will the kingdom of heaven be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went forth to meet the bridegroom and the bride. Five of them were foolish and five wise. But the five foolish, when they took their lamps, took no oil with them, while the wise did take oil in their vessels with the lamps. Then as the bridegroom was long in coming, they all became drowsy and slept. And at midnight a cry arose, Behold, the bridegroom is coming, go forth to meet him!’ Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise, ‘Give us some of your oil, for our lamps are going out.’ The wise answered, saying, ‘Lest there may not be enough for us and for you, go rather to those who sell it, and buy some for yourselves.’ Now while they were gone to buy it, the bridegroom came; and those who were ready went in with him to the marriage feast, and the door was shut. Finally there came also the other virgins, who said, ‘Sir, sir, open the door for us!’ But he answered and said, ‘Amen I say to you, I do not know you.’ Watch therefore, for you know neither the day nor the hour.

Luc 6:17-23
In quel tempo: Gesù si fermò in un ripiano con la folla dei suoi discepoli e gran quantità di popolo che da tutta la Giudea e da Gerusalemme e dalle marine di Tiro e di Sidone era venuta ad ascoltarlo e farsi guarire dalle proprie infermità.
Matt 25:1-13
In quel tempo, Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli questa parabola: «Il regno dei cieli sarà simile a dieci vergini che presero le loro lampade e uscirono incontro allo sposo e alla sposa. Ma cinque di esse erano stolte e cinque prudenti.
Oggi celebriamo questa festa in onore di sant’Agnese (dalla parola Agnello, simbolo di Cristo) vergine e martire. La figli dell’imperatore Costantino, finite le persecuzioni, fece costruire una basilica in suo onore.
Non sappaimo quanti cristiani abiurarono, ma Agnese resistette.
Anche oggi ci sono laici riconoscono il bisogno della fedelta assoluta a Gesu’. Ma ci sono sacerdoti, teologi e vescovi che rinnegano il Signore. Ma noi dobbiamo essere pronti al Signore che viene in qualsiasi momento della nostra vita.
La nostra mente deve essere limpida e le nostre azioni sempre coerenti con la fede.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

Luke 6:17-23 At that time: Jesus stopped on a shelf with the crowd of his disciples and a large number of people who had come from all Judea and Jerusalem and from the seas of Tire and Sidon to listen to him and be healed of their infirmities.
Matt 25:1-13 At that time, Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. But five of them were foolish and five prudent.
Today we celebrate this feast in honor of Saint Agnes (from the word Lamb, symbol of Christ) virgin and martyr. The daughter of Emperor Constantine, after the persecutions, had a basilica built in her honour. We don’t know how many Christians recanted, but Agnes resisted. Even today there are lay people who recognize the need for absolute fidelity to Jesus. But there are priests, theologians and bishops who deny the Lord. But we must be ready for the Lord who comes at any moment of our life. Our mind must be clear and our actions always consistent with faith.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
