Léctio Epístolæ beáti Pauli Apóstoli ad Corínthios
1 Cor 4:1-5
Lectio and Gospel
Lesson from the first letter of St. Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians
1 Cor. 4:1-5
Brethren: Let a man so account us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God. Now here it is required in stewards that a man be found trustworthy. But with me it is a very small matter to be judged by you or by man’s tribunal. Nay I do not even judge my own self. For I have nothing on my conscience, yet I am not thereby justified; but he who judges me is the Lord. Therefore, pass no judgment before the time, until the Lord comes, Who will both bring to light the things hidden in darkness and make manifest the counsels of hearts; and then everyone will have his praise from God.
Luke 3:1-6
Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was procurator of Judea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of the district of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zachary, in the desert. And he went into all the region about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of Isaias the prophet. The voice of one crying in the desert, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord, make straight His paths. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth; and all mankind shall see the salvation of God.’
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – MERCOLEDI 21 DICEMBRE 2022 ORE 17.30:

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Today we celebrate, following the Vetus Ordo, the feast of St. Thomas the Apostle. His story is particular because it shows us that the apostles chosen by Jesus were not educated people (like the scribes and Pharisees). Nor had he chosen them based on their quality of life, but simply as they were, with no particular qualities that distinguished them. All Jews who, however, awaited the arrival of the Messiah, understood by them as a politician. Among these is precisely St. Thomas. They therefore had to make a long journey under the patient guidance of Jesus in order to be able to know and understand, through his teachings, signs and miracles, the earthly mission of Jesus-Messiah. The Lord went so far as to show and touch his own wounds and nail marks after his resurrection. All this was necessary to convince the apostles and in particular St. Thomas to acquire faith. This consoles us because we too have encountered difficulties in faith, understanding and discernment. Jesus through the trials we encounter in life has allowed us to know his teaching. St. Thomas after the Ascension of Jesus into heaven became, like the other apostles, a missionary. According to tradition, he was martyred in India where he brought the Gospel. He and the other apostles transmitted faith in Christ to the world, and therefore also to us. It is a great merit that we must give them! For this reason today we celebrate together with Saint Thomas the Apostle, all the other apostles chosen and taught by Jesus! And we therefore invoke them to help and protect us in our journey of faith!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
