EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Luc 7:11-16
Gospel
Luke 7:11-16
At that time, Jesus went to a town called Naim; and His disciples and a large crowd went with Him. And as He drew near the gate of the town, behold, a dead man was being carried out, the only son of his mother, and she was a widow; and a large gathering from the town was with her. And the Lord, seeing her, had compassion on her, and said to her, Do not weep. And He went up and touched the stretcher; and the bearers stood still. And He said, Young man, I say to you, arise. And he who was dead, sat up, and began to speak. And He gave him to his mother. But fear seized upon all, and they began to glorify God, saying, A great prophet has risen among us, and God has visited His people.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – DOMENICA 18SETTEMBRE 2022 ORE 10.30:
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Gal 5:25-26; 6:1-10

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Gal 5: 25-26; 6: 1-10 Brothers: If we live by it spirit, we also walk according to the spirit. We do not seek vain glory by provoking and envying each other. Brothers, if a man happens to fall into sin, you, who are spiritual, take him back gently, thinking of yourselves, so that you too may not be tempted. You carry each other’s burden, and thus you will fulfill the law of Christ.
Luke 7: 11-16 At that time: Jesus was going to a city called Naim, followed by his disciples and a large crowd. And he came near the city gate as he went to bury the only child of a widow, who was accompanied by a large number of people. Seeing her, the Lord, moved to compassion for her, said to her: Do not weep. He walked over to the coffin and touched it. Those who carried it stopped. He said: Young boy, I say to you, get up. The dead man sat up, and began to speak, and Jesus gave him back to his mother. All were filled with great fear and glorified God, saying: A great prophet has appeared among us, and God has visited his people.
Today the gospel speaks of the resurrection of the widow’s teenage son. We are in the village of Naim. Jesus says that he came “for the lost sheep of the house of Israel.” His earthly mission ends in Palestine. Jesus focuses on Israel, so first on his brothers of faith.
We too must proceed like this! But Jesus is moved to meet his grieving widowed mother! The virtue of compassion has now disappeared from the parched earth. Compassion is a rare thing. Especially in hospitals where care for the sufferer should come first. The widow lost her son, like the people who lost their faith and lost God’s presence.
Even the prophets themselves no longer speak! The false church is headed by an apostate. God is no longer present in their false temples now desecrated by the worship of pagan idols! The churches are empty, only the ideologized pseudo-faithful remain!
There is the emptiness of desolation! The dead son is the dead church! Jesus is also dead, but he is also risen! So too the Church must pass into the catacombs, as if she were dead in the eyes of the enemies!
But the Church will rise again thanks to the intervention of Jesus Christ!
Jesus has compassion on us! We can trust in the compassion of Jesus Christ!
A touch of the Lord is enough and the Church is reborn through her children!
Let’s not lose faith and let’s not lose heart! The BVM helps us!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
