DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
4 Reg 5:1-15
In quei giorni: Naaman, capo dell’esercito del re di Siria, era un uomo grande presso il suo padrone e onorato, perché per mezzo di lui il Signore aveva salvata la Siria; ma quest’uomo valoroso e ricco era lebbroso. Egli discese, e si lavò sette volte nel Giordano, secondo la parola dell’uomo di Dio, e la sua carne tornò come quella d’un piccolo bambino, e fu mondato. Allora tornò con tutto il suo seguito dall’uomo di Dio. Giunto e presentatosi a lui, disse: «Or so che non v’è altro Dio in tutta la terra. ma soltanto in Israele ).
Ps 78:8-9
V. Adiuva nos, Deus, salutáris noster: et propter glóriam nóminis tui, Dómine, líbera nos: et propítius esto peccátis nostris, propter nomen tuum.
Luc 4:23-30.
In quel tempo Gesù disse ai Farisei: «Certamente mi direte quel proverbio: “Medico, cura te stesso”: quanto udimmo essere avvenuto in Cafarnao, fallo anche qui nella tua patria».
Oggi e’ anche la festa di San Benedetto.
Benedetto da Norcia (Norcia, 480 circa – Montecassino, 21 marzo 547) è stato un grande monaco cristiano italiano, fondatore dell’Ordine di San Benedetto. Viene venerato come patrono d’Europa e diffusore della fede e della civilta’ cristiana in Europa.
Ma le fondamenta della societa’ Cristiana sono ora distrutte. Dai monasteri benedettini, or in gran parte scomparsi, partiva l’annuncio del Vangelo e la cristianizzazione d’Europa. Cosi’ l’Europa in circa 1000 anni e’ stata cristianizzata.
San Benedetto ha demolito e fatto scomparire gli idoli pagani, cominciando da se stesso. Infatti decise di abbandonare gli studi per una carriera pubblica e decise di diventare monaco, creando a questo scopo un’ordine monastico, quello benedettino.
Ma non dobbiamo disperare: ci sono gia’, seminati, i semi delle nuova Chiesa che germinano.
Come ai tempi di Elia ci fu la carestia e la siccita’ in Israele, Dio non portava piu’ le benedizioni in Israele. Anche Gesu’ viene rifiutato, come gia’ i profeti, nella sua terra.
Ma il Signore sta preparando il Suo nuovo popolo!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo. Sempre sia lodato!

Today is also the feast of San Benedetto. Benedict of Nursia (Norcia, about 480 – Montecassino, 21 March 547) was a great Italian Christian monk, founder of the Order of St. Benedict. He is venerated as the patron saint of Europe and diffuser of the Christian faith and civilization in Europe.
But the foundations of Christian society are now destroyed. From the Benedictine monasteries, now largely disappeared, the proclamation of the Gospel and the Christianization of Europe began.
Thus Europe in about 1000 years has been Christianized.
Saint Benedict demolished and make disappear all pagan idols, starting with himself. In fact, he decided to abandon his studies for a public career and decided to become a monk, creating a monastic order, the Benedictine one, for this purpose.
But we must not despair: the seeds of the new Church are already germinating.
As in the time of Elijah there was famine and drought in Israel, God no longer brought blessings to Israel. Even Jesus is rejected, like the prophets already, in his land.
But the Lord is preparing His new people!
