DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Sap 7:7-14
Per questo ho pregato, e mi fu dato il senno; ho supplicato, e lo spirito di sapienza venne a me. L’ho preferita agli scettri e ai troni, e le ricchezze le stimai un niente in paragone di lei. Non ho paragonate con lei le pietre preziose, perché tutto l’oro in paragone di lei è un po’ di sabbia, e l’argento dinanzi a lei conta come fango. L’amai più della sanità e dell’avvenenza, mi proposi di averla per mia luce, perché lo splendore che da lei emana non tramonta. Insieme con essa mi venne ogni bene e incalcolabile ricchezza per mezzo di lei. Io godei di tanti beni, perché la sapienza li domina, e pur non sapevo che di tutti questi beni era lei la madre. Senza oblique mire l’ho appresa, senza invidia la comunico, e non ne tengo nascoste le ricchezze; perché essa è un tesoro infinito per gli uomini, e chi ne usa si unisce in amicizia con Dio, raccomandandosi per dori disciplinari.
Luca 12:35-40
In quel tempo: Disse Gesù ai suoi discepoli: «I vostri fianchi sian cinti ed accese nelle vostre mani le lucerne, come coloro che aspettano il loro padrone quando torni da nozze, per aprirgli appena giunge e picchia. Beati quei servi che il padrone, arrivando, troverà desti. In verità vi dico, che, cintosi, li farà sedere a tavola e si metterà a servirli. E se giungerà alla seconda vigilia e se giungerà alla terza vigilia e li troverà così, beati loro! Sappiate pero che se il padrone conoscesse in qual ora viene il ladro, veglierebbe senza dubbio, e non si lascerebbe sfondare la casa. E anche voi tenetevi pronti, perché, nell’ora che non pensate, verrà il Figlio dell’uomo.
Oggi celebriamo S. Filippo Neri, detto apostolo di Roma. Fu una benedizione per la citta’ di Roma e per tutta la Chiesa. Per quindici anni fu eremita pellegrinante nella campagna romana per apostolato.
Si dedico’ soprattutto all’istruzione religiosa dei giovani. La massa della popolazione era preda delle superstizioni, un ritorno al paganesimo. Occorrevano apostoli veri che riportasseso ai fondamenti della fede: l’eucariestia, la devozione a Maria, e infine la devozione al papa e ai vescovi.
Ebbe un gran successo i Italia, Francia e Inghilterra (quando l’Inghilterra riapri le porte al cattolicesimo. Un esempio fu il Card. John Newman). San Filippo Neri predicava la gioia cristiana basata sulla fede, la presenza dello Spirito Santo e della SS. Trinita in noi e in mezzo a noi!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

Wis 7:7-14
I prayed, and prudence was given me; I pleaded, and the spirit of Wisdom came to me. I preferred her to scepter and throne, and deemed riches nothing in comparison with her. Nor did I liken any priceless gem to her; because all gold, in view of her, is a little sand, and before her, silver is to be accounted mire. Beyond health and comeliness I loved her, and I chose to have her rather than the light, because the splendor of her never yields to sleep. Yet all good things together came to me in her company, and countless riches at her hands; and I rejoiced in them all, because Wisdom is their leader, though I had not known that she is the mother of these. Simply I learned about her, and ungrudgingly do I share – her riches I do not hide away; for to men she is an unfailing treasure; those who gain this treasure win the friendship of God; to Whom the gifts they have from discipline commend them.
Luke 12:35-40
At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him.
Today we celebrate St. Philip Neri, known as the apostle of Rome. It was a blessing for the city of Rome and for the whole Church. For fifteen years he was a pilgrim hermit in the Roman countryside for an apostolate.
He dedicated himself above all to the religious instruction of young people. The mass of the population fell prey to superstitions, a reversion to paganism. True apostles were needed who would bring him back to the foundations of the faith: the Eucharist, devotion to Mary, and finally devotion to the pope and bishops.
It was very successful in Italy, France and England (when England reopened the doors to Catholicism. An example was Cardinal John Newman). St. Philip Neri preached Christian joy based on faith, the presence of the Holy Spirit and of the Blessed Sacrament. Trinity in us and among us!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
