EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Matt 1:18-21
Gospel
Matt 1:18-21
When Mary the Mother of Jesus had been betrothed to Joseph, before they came together, she was found to be with child by the Holy Spirit. But Joseph her husband, being a just man, and not wishing to expose her to reproach, was minded to put her away privately. But while he thought on these things, behold, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream, saying, Do not be afraid, Joseph, son of David, to take to you Mary your wife, for that which is begotten in her is of the Holy Spirit. And she shall bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus; for He shall save His people from their sins.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – MARTEDI 19 MARZO 2024 ORE 18.00:
FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Reading of the book of Wisdom.
He was dear to God and men, his memory is a blessing. The Lord made him similar to the Saints in glory and made him great and terrible to his enemies: and with his word he made the plagues stop. He glorified him before the king and gave him commandments for his people, and showed him his glory. For his faith and his meekness he consecrated him and chose him among all mortals. In fact, God listened to his voice and made him enter the cloud. Face to face he gave him the precepts and the law of life and science.
From the Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Since Mary, the Mother of Jesus, was married to Joseph, before living with him she was found pregnant, by virtue of the Holy Spirit. Now, Joseph, her husband, being just and not wanting to expose her to infamy, thought of sending her away secretly. While he was thinking this, an Angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said to him: Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary as your bride: for what was born in her is the work of the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a son, and you will call his name Jesus: because he will free his people from their sins. Today we celebrate the long-awaited feast of San Giuseppe. Giuseppe has to pass a test of faith and proves that he is a just man and also full of love for his girlfriend (he didn’t want to hurt her). But God, through an angel, intervenes and reveals to him that Jesus is the Messiah! Mary and Joseph kept this secret in their hearts. Saint Joseph is also our patriarch as he guides us along the path of our life. We must follow his trail so that we can carry out our mission!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
