Now in the fifteenth year of the reign of Tiberius Caesar, when Pontius Pilate was procurator of Judea, and Herod tetrarch of Galilee, and Philip his brother tetrarch of the district of Abilene, during the high priesthood of Annas and Caiphas, the word of God came to John, the son of Zachary, in the desert. And he went into all the region about the Jordan, preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins, as it is written in the book of the words of Isaias the prophet. The voice of one crying in the desert, ‘Make ready the way of the Lord, make straight His paths. Every valley shall be filled, and every mountain and hill shall be brought low, and the crooked ways shall be made straight, and the rough ways smooth; and all mankind shall see the salvation of God.’

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Prima lettura dal libro del profeta Isaia.
Seconda lettura dalla seconda lettera di san Paolo apostolo ai Tessalonicesi. Il ritorno di Cristo non avverera’ prima che si manifesti pienamente l’apostasia e il figlio della perdizioni non si proclami Dio.
Il Vangelo secondo Luca parla del censimento indetto all’epoca della nascita di Gesu’ dal governo di Roma sotto Tiberio e Ponzio Pilato governatore. Giovanni Battista predica nel deserto e battezza in acqua sul Giordano.
E’ il sabato delle quattro tempora dell’Avvento. Occorre preparare la via del Signore, colmando i burroni (le nostre colpe) e i colli (lo smodato amore per noi stessi). L’avvento di Gesu’ e’ avvenuto 2000 annI fa. Ma deve ritornare prossimamente. Gia’ vediamo la grande apostasia in corso. Il figlio della perdizione sta per apparire e forse e gia’ qui. Molte nazioni si convertiranno, tra esse anche l’Egitto.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

First reading from the book of the prophet Isaiah. Second reading from the second letter of Saint Paul the apostle to the Thessalonians. The return of Christ will not take place before the apostasy is fully manifested and the son of perdition proclaims himself God. The Gospel according to Luke speaks of the census called at the time of the birth of Jesus by the government of Rome under Tiberius and governor Pontius Pilate. John the Baptist preaches in the desert and baptizes in water on the Jordan. It is the Saturday of the four seasons of Advent. We need to prepare the way of the Lord, filling the ravines (our faults) and the hills (our immoderate love for ourselves). The advent of Jesus occurred 2000 years ago. But he must return soon.
