DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Jac 2:12-17
Carissimi, così parlate e così operate, come persone che hanno da essere giudicate secondo una legge di libertà. Poiché senza misericordia sarà giudicato chi non usa misericordia: ma la misericordia trionfa del giudizio. Che giova, fratelli miei, se uno dice di aver la fede e non abbia le opere? Potrà forse salvarlo la fede? Che se un fratello e una sorella sono ignudi e bisognosi del vitto quotidiano, e uno di voi dica loro: «Andate in pace, riscaldatevi e satollatevi»; né diate loro le cose necessarie al corpo, che gioverà? Così la fede, se non ha le opere, è morta in se stessa.
Luc 12:35-40
In quel tempo: Disse Gesù ai suoi discepoli: «I vostri fianchi sian cinti ed accese nelle vostre mani le lucerne, come coloro che aspettano il loro padrone quando torni da nozze, per aprirgli appena giunge e picchia. Beati quei servi che il Padrone, arrivando, troverà desti. In verità vi dico, che, cintosi, li farà sedere a tavola e si metterà a servirli. E se giungerà alla seconda vigilia e se giungerà alla terza vigilia e li troverà così, beati loro! Sappiate però che se il padrone conoscesse in qual ora viene il ladro, veglierebbe senza dubbio, e non si lascerebbe sfondare la casa. E anche voi tenetevi pronti, perché, nell’ora che non pensate, verrà il Figlio dell’uomo.
Dalla prima lettura (lettera di San Giacomo). Senza misericordia sarà giudicato chi non usa misericordia: ma la misericordia trionfa del giudizio. Che giova avere fede e non le opere? Se la fede non hs le opere e’ morta!
Nel Vangelo Gesu’ ci esorta ad essere sempre pronti alla sua venuta (di ritorno dalle nozze). Perche’ non sappiamo quando cio’ avverra’ per ciascuno di noi.
Oggi celebriamo la festa di S. Giovanni Canzio, professore universitario a Cracovia. Dava tutto quello che aveva ai poveri. Spesso allungava il mantello fino a terra per non far vedere che era senza scarpe!
Lo Spirito Santo suscita in noi queste virtu’ anche in base alle nostre inclinazioni. La virtu’ cresce mettendola alla prova attraverso gli ostacoli che incontriamo.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

ames 2:12-17
Dearly beloved: So speak and so act as men about to be judged by the law of liberty. For judgment is without mercy to him who has not shown mercy; but mercy triumphs over judgment. What will it profit, my brethren, if a man says he has faith, but does not have works? Can the faith save him? And if a brother or a sister be naked and in want of daily food, and one of you say to them, Go in peace, be warmed and filled, yet you do not give them what is necessary for the body, what does it profit? So faith too, unless it has works, is dead in itself.
Luke 12:35-40
At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because at an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man is coming.
From the first reading (letter of St. James). Without mercy he will be judged who does not use mercy: but mercy triumphs over judgment. What good is it to have faith and not works? If faith does not have works it is dead! In the Gospel Jesus exhorts us to always be ready for his coming (returning from the wedding). Because we don’t know when this will happen for each of us. Today we celebrate the feast of St. Giovanni Canzio, university professor in Krakow. He gave everything he had to the poor. He often stretched his cloak to the ground so as not to show that he was without shoes! The Holy Spirit also inspires these virtues in us based on our inclinations. Virtue grows by testing it through the obstacles we encounter.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
