EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Luc 18:31-43
At ille dixit: Dómine, ut vídeam.
Gospel
Luke 18:31-43
At that time, Jesus taking to Himself the Twelve said to them, Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and all things that have been written by the prophets concerning the Son of Man will be accomplished. For He will be delivered to the Gentiles, and will be mocked and scourged and spit upon; and after they have scourged Him, they will put Him to death; and on the third day He will rise again. And they understood none of these things and this saying was hidden from them, neither did they get to know the things that were being said. Now it came to pass as He drew near to Jericho, that a certain blind man was sitting by the wayside, begging; but hearing a crowd passing by, he inquired what this might be. And they told him that Jesus of Nazareth was passing by. And he cried out, saying, Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me! And they who went in front angrily tried to silence him. But he cried out all the louder, Son of David, have mercy on me! Then Jesus stopped and commanded that he should be brought to Him. And when he drew near, He asked him, saying, What would you have Me do for you? And he said, Lord, that I may see. And Jesus said to him, Receive your sight, your faith has saved you. And at once he received his sight, and followed Him, glorifying God. And all the people upon seeing it gave praise to God.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – DOMENICA 19 FEBBRAIO 2023 ORE 10.30:
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
1 Cor 13:1-13

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
1 Cor 13:1-13 Brothers: When I speak the tongues of men and angels, if I don’t have charity I’m like a resounding bronze or a ringing harpsichord. And when I had the prophecy and understood all the mysteries and all science, and if I had all the faith so as to move mountains: if I don’t have charity I am nothing.
Luke 18:31-43 At that time: Jesus took the twelve apart and said to them: Behold, we are going to Jerusalem, and all that has been written by the prophets about the Son of man will be fulfilled.
We are approaching Easter. Fifty days to go. Wednesday is Ash Wednesday. We need an encounter with the Lord. The man born blind asks him for help, like us. Just invoke him with faith and desire to have his light! All others are false teachers with deceptive lights. The light of Jesus comes from God who always acts for our good. Together with the blind we say: have mercy on us Lord and give us sight! The light of Christ is faith! We therefore ask that Jesus increase our faith! The Gospel introduces us to the Easter journey. Today the word of God is clear and direct as a double-edged sword. The word goes to touch the depths of our being: we are also heart, intelligence and soul. Soul that is affected by original sin. Only God sees into our soul. His word enlightens us and guides us deep into our soul! St. Paul’s speech is very clear: what should we try to buy? It is about charity, necessary and indispensable for holiness! Charity is patient, kind, it does not boast, it is not envious (even religious people like us are full of pride and arrogance!), it does not get irritated and does not hold a grudge, it rejoices in the triumph of the truth ! Jesus announces his Passion: it is a crucial event! We too are headed to Jerusalem and we must follow in his footsteps! The faith of many is unfortunately fragile. We are not, by being Christians, protected from suffering and hardship! It should be borne in mind that the path is not triumphal at all but full of obstacles!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
