Matt 10:26-32
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Nihil est opértum, quod non revelábitur; et occúltum, quod non sciétur. Quod dico vobis in ténebris, dícite in lúmine: et quod in aure audítis, prædicáte super tecta. Et nolíte timére eos, qui occídunt corpus, ánimam autem non possunt occídere; sed pótius timéte eum, qui potest et ánimam et corpus pérdere in gehénnam. Nonne duo pásseres asse véneunt: et unus ex illis non cadet super terram sine Patre vestro? Vestri autem capílli cápitis omnes numerári sunt. Nolíte ergo timére: multis passéribus melióres estis vos. That which I tell you in the dark, speak ye in the light; and that which you hear in the ear, preach ye upon the housetops. And fear ye not them that kill the body, and are not able to kill the soul; but rather fear him that can destroy both soul and body in hell. Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing, and not one of them shall fall on the ground without your Father; but the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear not, therefore; better are you than many sparrows. Every one therefore that shall confess Me before men, I will also confess him before My Father who is in heaven.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
1 Joann 3:10-16
Carissimi: Chiunque non vive la giustizia non viene da Dio, e così neppure chi non ama il suo fratello; poiché questa è la dottrina che udiste da principio, che vi amiate l’un l’altro. Non come Caino che era dal maligno e uccise suo fratello. E perché lo uccise? Perché le sue opere erano cattive, e quelle di suo fratello giuste.
Matt 10:26-32
In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «Nulla v’è di nascosto che non s’abbia da rivelare
e niente di segreto che non s’abbia a sapere. Quel che vi dico nelle tenebre, voi ditelo in piena luce, e quello che vi è sussurrato nell’orecchio predicatelo sui tetti. E non temete coloro che uccidono il corpo, ma non possono uccidere l’anima; temete piuttosto colui che può mandare in perdizione anima e corpo nell’inferno.
Stiamo celebrando la festa di San Policarpo, discepolo di San Giovanni apostolo, vescovo di Smirne e martire. Fu bruciato vivo (a 95 anni) sulla pira predicando fino all’ultimo la parola di Cristo.
Non solo mori’ martire ma e’ anche grande per aver combattuto contro l’eresia marcionita, secondo il quale il Dio degli ebrei non coinciderebbe con Dio Padre, padre di Gesu’ Cristo (2). Ma quello che colpisce di piu’ e’ la sua calma mentre veniva immolato.
Si tratta di una dote che noi stessi dobbiamo perseguire, invece di perderla – come capita molto spesso – durante le difficolta’.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

1 John 3:10-16 Beloved: Anyone who does not live justice does not come from God, and neither does anyone who does not love his brother; for this is the doctrine which ye heard from the beginning, that ye love one another. Not like Cain who was from the evil one and killed his brother. And why did he kill him? Because his works were evil, and his brother’s were righteous.

What I tell you in the dark, speak in the light, and what is whispered in your ear, preach from the housetops. And fear not those who kill the body, but cannot kill the soul; rather fear him who can send body and soul into hell.
We are celebrating today the feast of Saint Polycarp, disciple of Saint John the Apostle, bishop of Smyrna and martyr. He was burned alive (at the age of 95) on the pyre preaching the word of Christ to the last.
Not only did he die a martyr but he is also great for having fought against the Marcionite heresy, according to which the God of the Jews does not coincide with God the Father, father of Jesus Christ (2).
But what is most striking is his calm as he was immolated. It is a gift that we ourselves must pursue, instead of losing – as happens very often – during difficulties.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
