EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Luc 17:11-19
Gospel
Luke 17:11-19
At that time, Jesus was going to Jerusalem, He was passing between Samaria and Galilee. And as He was entering a certain village, there He met ten lepers, who stood afar off and lifted up their voice, crying, Jesus, Master, have pity on us. And when He saw them He said, Go, show yourselves to the priests. And it came to pass as they were on their way, that they were made clean. But one of them, seeing that he was made clean, returned, with a loud voice glorifying God, and he fell on his face at His feet, giving thanks; and he was a Samaritan. But Jesus answered and said, Were not the ten made clean? But where are the nine? Has no one been found to return and give glory to God, except this foreigner? And He said to him, Arise, go your way, for your faith has saved you.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – DOMENICA 4 SETTEMBRE 2022, ORE 10.30:
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*,1)
Gal 3:16-22
Luc 17:11-19

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Gal 3: 16-22 Brothers: The promises were made to Abraham and his descendant. He does not say: To his posterity, as if they were many, but as if it were one: To your posterity, which is Christ. Now I tell you: the law that was made four hundred and thirty years later cannot make a covenant confirmed by God useless and make the promise useless. In fact, if the inheritance comes from the law, it is no longer by virtue of the promise: but God gave to Abraham as a promise.
Luke 17: 11-19 At that time: When Jesus went to Jerusalem, he went through Samaria and Galilee. As he entered a village, ten lepers ran to meet him, stopped at a distance and, raising their voices, exclaimed: Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
The readings speak of faith, the treasure we have in our hearts. It is a gift that will be more and more important!
We will be told: “Your faith has saved you!”
But we have to walk well.
The Lord is trying us through events that are also unpleasant for us, unwanted but permitted by God. In fact, one is not saved by the Law of Moses! It only serves to enlighten consciences. But we are saved by faith in Jesus Christ!
Life comes from faith! Faith serves to receive the gifts of the Spirit, the Spirit who created life in the universe, the Spirit who makes us reborn as new creatures destined for eternal life. The Holy Spirit dwells in us! But faith in us is needed!
The episode of the 10 lepers in the Gospel tells us that 9 were cleansed (they followed the Mosaic Law), but the one who goes back to thank Jesus is saved (he followed Christ’s teaching!)! He returns kneeling before Jesus, recognizing him as God (one kneels only before God!).
We therefore need gratitude to Jesus who saves us! We must always thank him for every grace! I lived in this way is very different from pure obedience to the Law of Moses!
This is the true faith that saves!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
