DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*,1)
1 Petri 5:1-11
Carissimi: Sacerdote anch’io e teste della Passione di Cristo e chiamato ad aver parte alla futura gloria, io scongiuro i sacerdoti che sono tra voi: Pascete il gregge di Dio, che vi è affidato, governandolo non per forza, ma volentieri per amor di Dio; non per il vil guadagno, ma con animo generoso; non come dominatori delle Chiese, ma come sinceri modelli del gregge; e così, quando apparirà il principe dei pastori, riceverete l’incorruttibile corona della gloria.
Luc 22:24-30
Tra i discepoli sorse contesa, chi di loro fosse stimato più grande. Ma Gesù disse loro: «I re delle genti le tiranneggiano; e i dominatori di esse hanno titolo di benefattori. Ma non così tra voi: anzi chi di voi è il più grande, si faccia come il più piccolo; e il capo come colui che serve.
Oggi ricordiamo un santo e un martire, San Apollinare di Ravenna (2), (Ἀπολλινάριος τῆς Ῥαβέννας) (Antiochia di Siria, I secolo – Classe, II secolo) E’ stato un vescovo romano ed è venerato come santo da tutte le chiese che riconoscono il culto dei santi. Evangelizzo Classe (il porto di Ravenna) e la regione circostante.
I sacerdoti devono imparare da San Apollinare, devono essere ispettori, quasi guardiani, ma con umilta’ e carita’ (non per altre finalita’).
Ma lo stesso criterio si applica anche a noi. I grandi della terra si fanno chiamare benefattori ma sono interessati a quanto compiono (e quindi non sono disinteressati!).
Seguiamo invece sempre l’esempio di umilta’ e carita di Maria!
Sia lodato Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

(2) Apollinare accompagnò San Pietro da Antiochia fino a Roma (dove esiste una basilica a lui intitolata) e in seguito fu inviato a Classe, dove la marina militare romana aveva una base (Classis Ravennatis) con centinaia di marinai, molti dei quali provenienti dal Levante.

1 Petri 5: 1-11 Dear friends: I too priest and witnesses of the Passion of Christ and called to share in the future glory, I adjure the priests who are among you: Shepherd the flock of God, which is entrusted to you, governing it not by force, but willingly for love. of God; not for vile gain, but with a generous spirit; not as rulers of the Churches, but as sincere models of the flock; and so, when the prince of shepherds appears, you will receive the incorruptible crown of glory.
Luke 22: 24-30 Dispute arose among the disciples, which of them was esteemed greatest. But Jesus said to them: ‘The kings of the nations tyrannize them; and the rulers of them have the title of benefactors. But not so among you: on the contrary, whoever is the greatest of you should make himself the smallest; and the boss as the one who serves.
Today we remember a saint and a martyr, Saint Apollinare of Ravenna (2), (Ἀπολλινάριος τῆς Ῥαβέννας) (Antioch of Syria, 1st century – 2nd century class). He was a Roman bishop and is revered as a saint by all the churches that they recognize the cult of the saints.
He evangelized Classe (the port of Ravenna) and the surrounding region. Priests must learn from San Apollinare, they must be inspectors, almost guardians, but with humility and charity (not for other purposes).
But the same criterion also applies to us.
The great of the earth call themselves benefactors but are interested in what they do (and therefore they are not disinterested!).
Instead, let us always follow Mary’s example of humility and charity!
