DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*,1)
1 Thess 2:2-9
Fratelli: Abbiamo preso franco coraggio nel nostro Dio per parlarvi del Vangelo anche tra molti contrasti. Poiché la nostra esortazione non venne da errore, né da malizia, né da raggiri. Come fummo approvati da Dio depositari del Vangelo, così parliamo, non per piacere agli uomini, ma a Dio che scruta i nostri cuori. Voi mi siete testimoni che il nostro linguaggio non fu mai di adulazione né pretesto all’avarizia. Dio ne è testimone. Né cercammo gloria dagli uomini, né da voi, né dagli altri.
Luca 10:1-9
In quel tempo: Il Signore scelse anche altri settantadue discepoli e li mandò a due a due innanzi a sé in ogni città e luogo dove egli era per andare. E diceva loro: «La messe è molta, ma gli operai sono pochi. Pregate dunque il padrone della messe che mandi operai per la sua mietitura. Andate! Ecco io vi mando come agnelli in mezzo a lupi.
Oggi ricordiamo S. Agostino di Canterbury (2), monaco benedettino di Roma.
Inviato da papa Gregorio Magno assieme a quaranta monaci benedettini. Fu il primo vescovo di Canterbury.
L’inghilterra tornera’ cattolica: queste e’ la profezia ricevuta da Teresa Higginson. Ma il ritorno alla fede avverra soltanto dopo la seconda Pentecoste. Il Signore fara’ piovere un fuoco spirituale che purifichera’ i cuori e le menti.
Occorre pregare per l’arrivo dei nuovi apostoli che daranno vita alla nuova Chiesa. Dobbiamo per questo rifugiarci nel cenacolo del cuore immacolato di Maria.
Chiediamo l’intercessione di S. Agostino di Canterbury.
Oggi e’ anche il 45 anno dell’ordinazione episcopale di Benedetto XVI.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

Venerato come santo da cattolici e anglicani, è conosciuto anche come l’Apostolo d’Inghilterra. Fu infatti inviato presso il re (Bretwalda) Ethelbert del Kent, in Inghilterra, da papa Gregorio I nel 597. Fu accompagnato da san Lorenzo, secondo arcivescovo di Canterbury.

1 Thess 2: 2-9 Brothers: We took frank courage in our God to speak to you about the Gospel even amidst many contrasts. Because our exhortation did not come from error, nor from malice, nor from deceit. As we were approved by God as custodians of the Gospel, so we speak, not to please men, but to God who searches our hearts. You are my witnesses that our language was never one of flattery or a pretext for greed. God is witness to it. Neither did we seek glory from men, nor from you, nor from others.
Luke 10: 1-9 At that time: The Lord also chose seventy-two other disciples and sent them two by two ahead of him to every city and place where he was to go. And he said to them: «The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Therefore ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers for his harvest. Go! Behold I send you as lambs among wolves.
Today we remember St. Augustine of Canterbury (3), a Benedictine monk of Rome. Sent by Pope Gregory the Great together with forty Benedictine monks. He was the first bishop of Canterbury. England will become Catholic again: this is the prophecy received by Teresa Higginson.
Before the return to the faith will take place only after the second Pentecost. The Lord will rain a spiritual fire that will purify hearts and minds.
It is necessary to pray for the arrival of the new apostles who will give life to the new Church. For this we must take refuge in the cenacle of the immaculate heart of Mary.
