Evangelium
Matt 25:1-13
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis parábolam hanc: Simile erit regnum cœlórum decem virgínibus: quæ, accipiéntes lámpades suas, exiérunt óbviam sponso et sponsæ. At ille respóndens, ait: Amen, dico vobis, néscio vos. Vigiláte ítaque, quia néscitis diem neque horam.
Gospel
Matt 25:1-13
In that time Jesus said to the people: shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. And five of them were foolish, and five wise. But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps. And the bridegroom tarrying, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye forth to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out. The wise answered, saying: Lest perhaps there be not enough for us and for you, go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. Now whilst they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut. But at last come also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not. Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – ORARI S.MESSA DI SABATO 30 APRILE 2022, ORE 8.00
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
2 Cor 10:17-18; 11, 1-2
Wikipedia (25 marzo 1347, Siena;29 aprile 1380, Roma). Luogo di sepoltura: Basilica di Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, Roma. Canonizzazione: 1461 da papa Pio II.
Caterina ebbe doni mistici particolari.
Accompagnava i condannati a more al patibolo.

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)
2 Cor 10: 17-18; 11, 1-2 Brothers, “whoever boasts, let him boast in the Lord”: for not the one who recommends himself is approved, but the one whom the Lord recommends.
Matth 25: 1-13 At that time, Jesus told his disciples this parable: “The kingdom of heaven will be like ten virgins who took their lamps and went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. But five of them were foolish and five were prudent.
Today we remember St. Catherine of Siena, Caterina di Jacopo di Benincasa, an Italian religious, theologian, philosopher and mystic.
Copatrona of Italy, and venerated as a saint, she was canonized by Pope Pius II in 1461; she is a doctor of the Church under Pope Paul VI in 1970. Wikipedia (25 March 1347, Siena; 29 April 1380, Rome). Burial place: Basilica of Santa Maria Sopra Minerva, Rome. Canonization: 1461 by Pope Pius II.
Catherine had particular mystical gifts. At the age of 12 she had the mystical vision of Jesus Christ. Her father saw her praying with a dove on her head. Thus she was able to enroll in the third Franciscan order.
She accompanied those sentenced to death to the gallows.
She was courageous: she intervened with the pope in Avignon to persuade him to return to Rome.
She had the stigmata and many other gifts, among which she was the bride of Christ.
There is, in fact, a mystical union with Jesus Christ to which we are all called!
Praised be Jesus Christ. Always be praised!
