EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Evangelium Ioann 12:1-9
Gospel John 12:1-9
Jesus therefore, six days before the pasch, came to Bethania, where Lazarus had been dead, whom Jesus raised to life. And they made him a supper there: and Martha served: but Lazarus was one of them that were at table with him. Mary therefore took a pound of ointment of right spikenard, of great price, and anointed the feet of Jesus, and wiped his feet with her hair; and the house was filled with the odour of the ointment. Then one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, he that was about to betray him, said: Why was not this ointment sold for three hundred pence, and given to the poor? Now he said this, not because he cared for the poor; but because he was a thief, and having the purse, carried the things that were put therein. Jesus therefore said: Let her alone, that she may keep it against the day of my burial. For the poor you have always with you; but me you have not always. A great multitude therefore of the Jews knew that he was there; and they came, not for Jesus’ sake only, but that they might see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – ORARI S.MESSA DI LUNEDI SANTO 11 APRILE 2022, ORE 8.00
DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (*)
Isa 50:5-10

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**)
Isa 50: 5-10 In those days Isaiah said: The Lord God has opened my ear, and I do not contradict; I don’t hold back. I gave my body to those who struck me and my cheeks to those who tore my beard; I have not withdrawn my face from mockery and spit. The Lord came to my aid, so I was not confused; for this I have made my forehead like a very hard flint knowing that I would not be confused.
Joann 12: 1-9 Gospel. Jn 12: 1-9: The ointment at Jesus’ feet. Passage of the Holy Gospel according to Saint John. Six days before Easter. Jesus went to Bethany where Lazarus was, the dead man whom Jesus had raised. And there they made him a supper. Martha was serving, and Lazarus was one of her diners. Now Mary took a pound of very precious pure nard perfume, anointed Jesus’ feet, and dried them with her hair; and the house was filled with the smell of the ointment.
The episode of Jesus’ supper brings together Martha, Mary and Lazarus and is prophetic because it anticipates the burial of Jesus.
Mary perfumes her feet with love and adoration for Jesus, whom she really likes. But Judas criticizes it because he has the greed for money in his heart (he wants to exploit the name of Jesus to his own advantage).
Before Jesus there are two paths for us: one at the service of God, the other of ourselves. But the second condemnation! Jesus is already oriented towards his next death.
What is it that animates him towards the cross? It is his trust in God the Father. She completely trusts him. The second certainty is that all his sufferings will serve for the salvation of humanity. The third is the certainty of the mother next to her.
We all need to follow His example. With the certainty of having the Madonna at your side!
Praised be Jesus Christ. Always be praised!
