Luc 4:38-44
In illo témpore: Surgens Iesus de synagóga, introívit in domum Simónis. Socrus autem Simónis tenebátur magnis fébribus: et rogavérunt illum pro ea. Et stans super illam, imperávit febri: et dimísit illam. Et contínuo surgens, ministrábat illis. Cum autem sol occidísset, omnes, qui habébant infírmos váriis languóribus, ducébant illos ad eum. At ille síngulis manus impónens, curábat eos. Exíbant autem dæmónia a multis, clamántia et dicéntia: Quia tu es Fílius Dei; et íncrepans non sinébat ea loqui, quia sciébant ipsum esse Christum. Facta autem die egréssus ibat in desértum locum, et turbæ requirébant eum, et venérunt usque ad ipsum: et detinébant illum, ne discéderet ab eis. At that time, Jesus rose from the synagogue and entered Simon’s house. Now Simon’s mother-in-law was suffering from a great fever, and they besought Him for her. And standing over her He rebuked the fever, and it left her; and she rose at once and began to wait on them. Now when the sun was setting, all who had persons sick with various diseases brought them to Him. And He laid His hands upon each of them and cured them. And devils also came forth from many, crying out and saying, You are the Son of God. And He rebuked them, and did not permit them to speak, because they knew that He was the Christ. Now when it was day, He went out and departed into a desert place. And the crowds were seeking after Him, and they came to Him, and tried to detain Him, that He might not depart from them. But He said to them, To the other towns also I must proclaim the kingdom of God, for this is why I have been sent. And He was preaching in the synagogues of Galilee.

Dal libro del profeta Geremia.
La parola del Signore fu rivolta a Geremia così: «Sta sulla porta del Tempio, ed ivi predica questa parola e di’: Udite la parola del Signore, voi tutti di Giuda che entrate per questa porta ad adorare il Signore. Questo dice il Signore degli eserciti, il Dio d’Israele: Emendate i vostri costumi e i vostri affetti, e allora abiterò con voi in questo luogo.
Vangelo secondo S. Luca.
In quel tempo Gesù, uscito dalla sinagoga [di Cafarnao, in Galilea], entrò in casa di Simone. Ora la suocera di Simone era in preda a violenta febbre; e gliela raccomandarono. Egli chinatosi verso di lei, comandò alla febbre e ne fu subito liberata; e alzatasi sull’istante, si mise a servirli.
Queste letture ci aiutano nel nostro cammino. Non dobbiamo essere troppo sicuri della presenza del Signore nel tempo. La presenza di Gesu’ va meritata! Occorre infatti che noi siamo e restiamo irreprensibili, cioe’ senza peccato!
La Chiesa oggi ha tanto bisogno di Gesu’. Ma noi dobbiamo sempre ricercare Gesu’ nella nostra vita!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

From the book of the prophet Jeremiah.
The word of the Lord was addressed to Jeremiah thus: «Stand at the door of the Temple, and there preach this word and say: Hear the word of the Lord, all you of Judah who enter through this door to worship the Lord. This says the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel: Amend your ways and your affections, and then I will dwell with you in this place.
Gospel according to St. Luke.
At that time Jesus, having left the synagogue [of Capernaum, in Galilee], entered Simon’s house. Now Simone’s mother-in-law was in the grip of a violent fever; and they recommended it to him. He bent towards her, commanded the fever and she was immediately freed from it; and getting up immediately, began to serve them.
These readings help us on our journey. We must not be too sure of the Lord’s presence in time. The presence of Jesus must be deserved! In fact, we must be and remain blameless, that is, without sin! The Church today needs Jesus so much. But we must always seek Jesus in our lives!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
