EVANGELIUM E OMELIA\HOMILY:
Matt 19:3-12.
Gospel
Matt 19:3-12
At that time, there came to Jesus some Pharisees, testing Him, and saying, Is it lawful for a man to put away his wife for any cause? But He answered and said to them, Have you not read that the Creator, from the beginning, made them male and female, and said, ‘For this cause a man shall leave his father and mother, and cleave to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh’? Therefore now they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has joined together, let no man put asunder. They said to Him, Why then did Moses command to give a written notice of dismissal, and to put her away? He said to them, Because Moses, by reason of the hardness of your heart, permitted you to put away your wives; but it was not so from the beginning. And I say to you, that whoever puts away his wife, except for immorality, and marries another, commits adultery; and he who marries a woman who has been put away commits adultery. His disciples said to Him, If the case of a man with his wife is so, it is not expedient to marry. And He said, ‘Not all can accept this teaching; but those to whom it has been given. For there are eunuchs who were born so from their mother’s womb; and there are eunuchs who were made so by men; and there are eunuchs who have made themselves so for the sake of the kingdom of heaven. Let him accept it who can.
DALL’OMELIA DI (FROM THE HOMILY BY) DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA – DOMENICA 4 FEBBRAIO 2024 ORE 10.30 (IN PREP.)

Nemmeno sotto tortura lei abiuro’. Venne quindi condannata a morte.

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
From the first letter of the Blessed Paul the Apostle to the Corinthians.
Brothers: Consider your vocation Among you, few are wise in human wisdom, few are powerful, few are noble; but God has chosen those whom the world calls fools to confound the wise, and those whom the world calls weak to confound the strong.
From the Gospel according to St. Matthew. At that time some Pharisees approached Jesus to tempt him, and said to him: “Is it lawful for a man to divorce his wife for any reason?”. And then they asked him: «But why did Moses command to give the divorce certificate and send her away?». And Jesus: «Because of the hardness of your heart, Moses allowed you to divorce your wives; but from the beginning it was not so. Then I say to you: whoever puts away his wife, except for concubinage, and marries another is an adulterer; and whoever marries the divorced woman is an adulterer. Let those who can understand.” Today is the feast of St. Agatha, virgin and martyr. Living in the 3rd century, she vowed herself as a virgin to Christ (obtaining the velatio from the bishop). A pagan who fell in love with her wanted to make her his, but she refused because of her vocation. The same pagan had her imprisoned, trying to force her to recant. Not even under torture did she recant. She was then sentenced to death. The torture of the gridiron to which she was condemned was also miraculously interrupted due to the earthquake that had occurred in Catania. Death was therefore given to her by decapitation.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
