DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Dalla seconda lettera di san Paolo apostolo a Timoteo.
Carissimo: Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Gesù Cristo, che ha da venire a giudicare i vivi ed i morti, per la sua venuta e per il suo regno: predica la Parola, insisti a tempo opportuno e fuori tempo. Riprendi, esorta, sgrida con paziente insegnamento; perché verrà tempo in cui la gente non potrà sopportare la sana dottrina, ma per assecondare la propria passione e per prurito di novità, si creerà una folla di maestri, e per non ascoltare la verità andrà dietro a favole.
Dal Vangelo secondo S. Matteo. In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «Voi siete il sale della terra. E se il sale perde la sua virtù, come lo si riattiverà? Chi [pertanto] violerà uno dei minimi di questi comandamenti e insegnerà così agli uomini, sarà tenuto minimo nel regno dei cieli; ma colui che avrà operato ed insegnato, sarà tenuto grande nel regno dei cieli».
Chi avra’ predicato i comandamenti di Gesu’ Cristo, come S. Giovanni Crisostomo, sara’ glorificato da Gesu’ Cristo. S. Giovanni Crisostomo non esito’ a condannare la corte bizantina. Per questo fu perseguitato ed ucciso. Per questo divento’ come luce del mondo!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

From the second letter of Saint Paul the apostle to Timothy.
Dearest: I adjure you before God and Jesus Christ, who is to come to judge the living and the dead, for his coming and for his kingdom: preach the Word, insist in season and out of season. Rebuke, exhort, scold with patient teaching; because the time will come when people will not be able to tolerate sound doctrine, but to indulge their passion and itching for novelty, a crowd of teachers will be created, and in order not to listen to the truth they will follow fairy tales.
From the Gospel according to St. Matthew. At that time Jesus said to his disciples: «You are the salt of the earth. And if the salt loses its virtues, how will it be reactivated? Whoever [therefore] violates one of the least of these commandments and teaches men so, will be held least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who works and teaches will be held great in the kingdom of heaven.” Whoever preaches the commandments of Jesus Christ, like St. John Chrysostom, will be glorified by Jesus Christ. St. John Chrysostom did not hesitate to condemn the Byzantine court. For this he was persecuted and killed. For this reason he became like the light of the world!
