Luc 14:26-33.
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus turbis: Si quis venit ad me, et non odit patrem suum, et matrem, et uxórem, et fílios, et fratres, et soróres, adhuc autem et ánimam suam, non potest meus esse discípulus. Et qui non báiulat crucem suam, et venit post me, non potest meus esse discípulus. Quis enim ex vobis volens turrim ædificáre, non prius sedens cómputat sumptus, qui necessárii sunt, si hábeat ad perficiéndum; ne, posteáquam posúerit fundaméntum, et non potúerit perfícere, omnes, qui vident, incípiant illúdere ei, dicéntes: Quia hic homo cœpit ædificáre, et non pótuit consummáre? Aut quis rex itúrus commíttere bellum advérsus álium regem, non sedens prius cógitat, si possit cum decem mílibus occúrrere ei, qui cum vigínti mílibus venit ad se? Alióquin, adhuc illo longe agénte, legatiónem mittens, rogat ea, quæ pacis sunt. Sic ergo omnis ex vobis, qui non renúntiat ómnibus, quæ póssidet, non potest meus esse discípulus.

Luke 14:26-33.
At that time, Jesus said to the crowds, If anyone comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, and wife and children, and brothers and sisters, yes, and even his own life, he cannot be My disciple. And he who does not carry his cross and follow Me, cannot be My disciple. For which of you, wishing to build a tower, does not sit down first and calculate the outlays that are necessary, whether he has the means to complete it? Lest, after he has laid the foundation and is not able to finish, all who behold begin to mock him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not able to finish!’ Or what king setting out to engage in battle with another king, does not sit down first and consider whether he is able with ten thousand men to meet him who with twenty thousand is coming against him? Or else, whilst the other is yet at a distance, he sends a delegation and asks the terms of peace. So, therefore, every one of you who does not renounce all that he possesses, cannot be My disciple.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Dal libro di San Paolo Apostolo a Timoteo.
Carissimo: Segui la giustizia, la pietà, la fede, la carità, la pazienza, la mansuetudine; combatti la buona battaglia della fede, conquista la vita eterna, per la quale sei stato chiamato ed hai fatta bella professione di fede dinanzi a molti testimoni. Ti raccomando di eseguire il tuo mandato immacolato e irreprensibile fino alla venuta del Signore nostro Gesù.
Dal Vangelo secondo S. Luca. Gesu’ ammonisce le turbe: «Se uno viene a me senza disamare (smettere di preferire) suo padre e sua madre, moglie e figli, fratelli e sorelle, e perfino la sua vita, non può essere mio discepolo. Cosi pertanto chi di voi non rinuncia a tutto quello che possiede, non può essere mio discepolo, E chi non porta la sua croce e non mi segue parimenti non può essere mio discepolo.»
Oggi e’ il giorno dedicato a San Timoteo vescovo e martire, ordinato da San Paolo Stesso (v. lettura di oggi). Quindi la messa di oggi e’ per tutti i vescovi di oggi affinche’ restino fedeli discepoli di Gesu’ Cristo!
Tutte le vocazioni devono essere adempiute in pienezza!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

From the book of Saint Paul the Apostle to Timothy.
Dearest: Follow justice, piety, faith, charity, patience, meekness; fight the good fight of faith, conquer eternal life, for which you were called and you have made a beautiful profession of faith before many witnesses. I recommend that you carry out your mandate spotless and blameless until the coming of our Lord Jesus.
From the Gospel according to St. Luke.
Jesus warns the crowds: «If anyone comes to me without disliking (ceasing to prefer) his father and his mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, and even his own life, he cannot be my disciple. So therefore whoever among you does not renounce all that he possesses cannot be my disciple, And whoever does not carry his cross and does not follow me likewise cannot be my disciple.” Today is the day dedicated to Saint Timothy, bishop and martyr, ordained by Saint Paul himself (see today’s reading). So today’s mass is for all today’s bishops to remain faithful disciples of Jesus Christ! All vocations must be fulfilled fully!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
