Dalla lettera di S. Paolo a Tito. Cristo ha dato se stesso per riscattarci da ogni iniquità, e per purificare per sé un popolo suo proprio.
Il Vangelo e’ per tutta la settimana (fino a sabato escluso) quello secondo Luca. Passati gli otto giorni, il bambino a Gesu’ viene circonciso e viene dato lui il nome che significa il Salvatore. Come era stato indicato dall’Angelo prima di essere concepito nel seno.
La circoncisione e’ il rito per il quale il bambino entra a far parte del popolo eletto (l’alleanza di Abramo). Ma e’ anche il primo spargimento di sangue da parte di Gesu’ per l’espiazione dei peccati di tutti gli uomini e per la loro salvezza. Quindi comincia la sua missione di redenzione dell’umanita’.
La luce di nostro Signore e’ apparsa nel mondo tramite il suo insegnamento. Dobbiamo abbandonare l’empieta degli uomini di oggi, ovvero l’ingratitudine e il disprezzo verso Dio. Dobbiamo per questo abbandonare l’attaccamento alle cose di questo mondo per vivere una vita sobria e temperante.
Oggi e’ la vigilia dell’Epifania del Signore. Ricordiamo anche San Telesforo martire (fu vittima delle persecuzioni contro i cristiani). Ricordiamo anche il funerale di Benedetto XVI svoltosi un anno fa. Benedetto XBI che ci guida dal cielo per restare fedeli al Depositum Fidei.
Gesu’ si manifesta continuamente a noi nei nostri cuori, specialmente se abbiamo fede!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

From the letter of St. Paul to Titus.
Christ gave himself to redeem us from all iniquity, and to purify for himself his own people.
The Gospel is the one according to Luke for the whole week (until Saturday excluded).
After eight days, the child Jesus is circumcised and given the name that means the Savior. As he had been indicated by the Angel before being conceived in the womb. Circumcision is the rite by which the child becomes part of the chosen people (the Abrahamic alliance). But it is also the first shedding of blood by Jesus to atone for the sins of all men and for their salvation. Then begins his mission of redemption of humanity. The light of our Lord has appeared in the world through his teaching. We must abandon the impiety of today’s men, that is, ingratitude and contempt towards God. For this reason we must abandon attachment to the things of this world to live a sober and temperate life.
Today is the eve of the Epiphany of the Lord. We also remember Saint Telesforo martyr (he was a victim of the persecutions against Christians). We also remember the funeral of Benedetto XZVI which took place a year ago. Blessed XBI who guides us from heaven to remain faithful to the Depositum Fidei. Jesus continually manifests himself to us in our hearts, especially if we have faith!
