Matt 2:13-18
In illo témpore: Angelus Dómini appáruit in somnis Ioseph, dicens: Surge, et áccipe Púerum et Matrem eius, et fuge in Ægýptum, et esto ibi, usque dum dicam tibi. Futúrum est enim, ut Heródes quærat Púerum ad perdéndum eum. Qui consúrgens accépit Púerum et Matrem eius nocte, et secéssit in Ægýptum: et erat ibi usque ad óbitum Heródis: ut adimplerétur quod dictum est a Dómino per Prophétam dicéntem: Ex Ægýpto vocávi Fílium meum. Tunc Heródes videns, quóniam illúsus esset a Magis, irátus est valde, et mittens occídit omnes púeros, qui erant in Béthlehem et in ómnibus fínibus eius, a bimátu et infra, secúndum tempus, quod exquisíerat a Magis. At that time, an angel of the Lord appeared in a dream to Joseph, saying, Arise, and take the Child and His mother, and flee into Egypt, and remain there until I tell you. For Herod will seek the Child to destroy Him. So he arose, and took the Child and His mother by night, and withdrew into Egypt, and remained there until the death of Herod; that what was spoken by the Lord through the prophet might be fulfilled, Out of Egypt I called My Son. Then Herod, seeing that he had been tricked by the Magi, was exceedingly angry; and he sent and slew all the boys in Bethlehem and all its neighborhood who were two years old or under, according to the time that he had carefully ascertained from the Magi. Then was fulfilled what was spoken through Jeremias the prophet. A voice was heard in Rama, weeping and loud lamentation; Rachel weeping for her children, and she would not be comforted, because they are no more.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Nella lettura dall’Apocalisse 14:1-5 sul monte Sion 144000 vergini seguono l’Agnello. Costoro sono stati riscattati da Dio tra i viventi perche’ puri di cuore in quanto vergini.
Nel Vangelo Giuseppe riceve in sogno l’istruzione da un angelo del Signore di portare in salvo da Erode la sacra famiglia in Egitto. Cosi viene adempiuta la profezia «Dall’Egitto ho richiamato il mio Figlio».
Oggi la Chiesa celebra i santi innocenti martiri vittime di Erode che tentava di uccidere il Messia. Questi martiri hanno prefigurato il sacrificio di Gesu’ in quanto puri ed innocenti. Muoiono a causa di satane che vuole distruggere l’innocenza.
Anche noi dovremmo cercare la purezza dell’innocenza pur essendo creta del mondo. Questi piccoli santi sono dunque da invidiare e anche da imitare.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

FROM THE HOMILY BY DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
In the reading from Revelation 14:1-5 on Mount Zion 144,000 virgins follow the Lamb. These were redeemed by God among the living because they were pure of heart as virgins. In the Gospel, Joseph receives instructions in a dream from an angel of the Lord to bring the holy family to safety from Herod in Egypt. Thus the prophecy “From Egypt I called my Son back” is fulfilled. Today the Church celebrates the holy innocent martyrs who were victims of Herod who tried to kill the Messiah. These martyrs prefigured the sacrifice of Jesus as they were pure and innocent. They die because of Satan who wants to destroy innocence. We too should seek the purity of innocence despite being clay of the world. These little saints are therefore to be envied and also imitated.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
