Ioann 12:24-26
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Amen, amen, dico vobis, nisi granum fruménti cadens in terram, mórtuum fúerit, ipsum solum manet: si autem mórtuum fúerit, multum fructum affert. Qui amat ánimam suam, perdet eam: et qui odit ánimam suam in hoc mundo, in vitam ætérnam custódit eam. Si quis mihi mínistrat, me sequátur: et ubi sum ego, illic et miníster meus erit. Si quis mihi ministráverit, honorificábit eum Pater meus.

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Amen, amen, I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. He who loves his life, loses it; and he who hates his life in this world, keeps it unto life everlasting. If anyone serves Me, let him follow Me; and where I am there also shall My servant be. If anyone serves me, My Father will honor him.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
2 Cor 9:6-10.
Fratelli, chi semina poco, mieterà poco e chi semina molto, mieterà molto. Ciascuno offra secondo quanto ha determinato in cuor suo, non di mala voglia né per forza, perché «Dio ama colui che dona con gioia». Or Dio è capace di ricolmarvi d’ogni bene in modo che abbiate in ogni cosa sempre il sufficiente, ed insieme abbondiate in ogni sorta di opere buone, conforme sta scritto: «Il giusto profonde e dà ai poveri, il frutto della sua carità è eterno». E quel Dio che dà il seme al seminatore, darà anche il pane da mangiare. Egli moltiplicherà la vostra semenza e farà crescere i frutti della vostra misericordia.
Giov 12:24-26
In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «In verità, in verità vi dico: se il chicco di frumento gettato in terra non muore, rimane infecondo; se invece muore, produce molto frutto. Chi ama la sua vita la perde e chi odia la sua vita in questo mondo, la salverà per la vita eterna. Se uno mi vuol servire mi segua; e dove sono io, ci sarà pure il mio servo. Se uno mi serve l’onorerà il Padre mio».
Celebriamo la festa di San Lorenzo, da sempre venerato nella cristianita’. Maririzzato come diacono nel 258 a causa delle persecuzioni dell’imperatore Valeriano. La sua funzione, come collaboratore del papa, era di assistere i poveri e gli indigenti. Dopo la morte del papa gli venne richiesto di consegnare i beni della Chiesa. Ma lui, previdente, li aveva gia’ distribuiti ai poveri di Roma! Fu condannato alla morte sulla graticola restando sereno fino all’ultimo.
E’ un grande esempio di fede per tutti noi! La persecuzione la sentiamo su di noi (anche le tentazioni sono una sofferenza)!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

2 Cor. 9:6-10
Brethren: He who sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and he who sows bountifully will also reap bountifully. Let each one give according as he has determined in his heart, not grudgingly or from compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound in you, so that always having ample means, you may abound in every good work, as it is written, He has scattered abroad and has given to the poor, his justice remains forever. Now He Who provides the sower his seed will both give you bread to eat and will multiply your seed, and will increase the growth of the fruits of your justice.

We celebrate the feast of San Lorenzo, who has always been venerated in Christianity. Married as a deacon in 258 due to the persecutions of the emperor Valerian. His function, as a collaborator of the pope, was to assist the poor and indigent. After the pope’s death he was asked to hand over the Church’s assets. But he, foresighted, had already distributed them to the poor of Rome! He was sentenced to death on the gridiron, remaining serene until the end. He is a great example of faith for all of us! We feel persecution upon us (even temptations are a suffering)!
