Matt 25:1-13
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis parábolam hanc: Símile erit regnum cœlórum decem virgínibus: quæ, accipiéntes lámpades suas, exiérunt óbviam sponso et sponsæ. Quinque autem ex eis erant fátuæ, et quinque prudéntes: sed quinque fátuæ, accéptis lampádibus, non sumpsérunt óleum secum: prudéntes vero accepérunt óleum in vasis suis cum lampádibus. Moram autem faciénte sponso, dormitavérunt omnes et dormiérunt. Média autem nocte clamor factus est: Ecce, sponsus venit, exíte óbviam ei. Tunc surrexérunt omnes vírgines illæ, et ornavérunt lámpades suas. Fátuæ autem sapiéntibus dixérunt: Date nobis de óleo vestro: quia lámpades nostræ exstinguúntur. Respondérunt prudéntes, dicéntes: Ne forte non suffíciat nobis et vobis, ite pótius ad vendéntes, et émite vobis. Dum autem irent émere, venit sponsus: et quæ parátæ erant, intravérunt cum eo ad núptias, et clausa est iánua. Novíssime vero véniunt et réliquæ vírgines, dicéntes: Dómine, Dómine, áperi nobis. In that time Jesus said to the people: Then shall the kingdom of heaven be like to ten virgins, who taking their lamps went out to meet the bridegroom and the bride. And five of them were foolish, and five wise. But the five foolish, having taken their lamps, did not take oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with the lamps. And the bridegroom tarrying, they all slumbered and slept. And at midnight there was a cry made: Behold the bridegroom cometh, go ye forth to meet him. Then all those virgins arose and trimmed their lamps. And the foolish said to the wise: Give us of your oil, for our lamps are gone out. The wise answered, saying: Lest perhaps there be not enough for us and for you, go ye rather to them that sell, and buy for yourselves. Now whilst they went to buy, the bridegroom came: and they that were ready, went in with him to the marriage, and the door was shut. But at last came also the other virgins, saying: Lord, Lord, open to us. But he answering said: Amen I say to you, I know you not. Watch ye therefore, because you know not the day nor the hour.

2 Cor 10:17-18; 11, 1-2.
Fratelli, «chi si vanta, si vanti nel Signore»: poiché non chi si raccomanda da sé è approvato, bensì colui che il Signore raccomanda. Vorrei che voi sopportaste un po’ di stoltezza da parte mia. Ma si, sopportatemi; poiché sono geloso di voi, della gelosia di Dio, avendovi fidanzati ad un solo sposo, come vergine casta da presentare a Cristo.
Matth 25:1-13
In quel tempo, Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli questa parabola: «Il regno dei cieli sarà simile a dieci vergini che presero le loro lampade e uscirono incontro allo sposo e alla sposa. Ma cinque di esse erano stolte e cinque prudenti. Le cinque stolte, nel prendere le lampade, non presero l’olio con sé; le prudenti, invece, insieme con le lampade presero anche l’olio, nei loro vasi. Tardando a venire lo sposo, si assopirono tutte e si addormentarono. Ma a mezzanotte si udì un clamore: “Ecco viene lo sposo: uscitegli incontro”. Allora tutte le vergini si alzarono e prepararono le loro lampade. E dissero le stolte alle prudenti: “Dateci un po’ del vostro olio, poiché le nostre lampade stanno per spegnersi”. Risposero le prudenti dicendo: “Non basterebbe né a noi, né a voi: andate piuttosto dai rivenditori e compratevene”. Mentre esse andavano, giunse lo Sposo; e quelle che erano pronte entrarono con lui alla festa nuziale, e la porta fu chiusa. All’ultimo momento, giunsero anche le altre vergini e dicevano: O Signore, Signore, aprici!”. Ma egli rispose: “In verità vi dico: non vi conosco”. Vigilate, dunque, poiché non sapete né il giorno né l’ora».
Oggi ricordiamo Santa Giuliana, fiorentina, consacratasi a 15 anni e fondatrice della Mantellate.
Fece una vita di umilta’ e preghiera. Si distingue per due qualita’: la devozione al SS. Sacramento e la condivisione dei sette dolori di Maria addolorata.
E’ una santa cui chiediamo la nostra intercessione per essere pronti a rispondere al Signore (lampade, la fede e l’olio, le virtu’ teologali).
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

Brothers: He that glorieth, let him glory in the Lord. For not he who commendeth himself, is approved, but he, whom God commendeth. Would to God you could bear with some little of my folly: but do bear with me. For I am jealous of you with the jealousy of God. For I have espoused you to one husband that I may present you as a chaste virgin to Christ.

Today we remember Santa Giuliana, Florentine, consecrated at 15 and founder of the Mantellate.
He led a life of humility and prayer. It is distinguished by two qualities: the devotion to the SS. Sacramento and the sharing of the seven sorrows of the grieving Mary.
She is a saint to whom we ask for our intercession to be ready to respond to the Lord (lamps, faith and oil, the theological virtues).
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
