Luc 12:35-40
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Sint lumbi vestri præcíncti, et lucernæ ardéntes in mánibus vestris, et vos símiles homínibus exspectántibus dóminum suum, quando revertátur a núptiis: ut, cum vénerit et pulsáverit, conféstim apériant ei. Beáti servi illi, quos, cum vénerit dóminus, invénerit vigilántes: amen, dico vobis, quod præcínget se, et fáciet illos discúmbere, et tránsiens ministrábit illis. Et si vénerit in secúnda vigília, et si in tértia vigília vénerit, et ita invénerit, beáti sunt servi illi. Hoc autem scitóte, quóniam, si sciret paterfamílias, qua hora fur veníret, vigiláret útique, et non síneret pérfodi domum suam. At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Let your loins be girt about and your lamps burning, and you yourselves like men waiting for their master’s return from the wedding; so that when he comes and knocks, they may straight-way open to him. Blessed are those servants whom the master, on his return, shall find watching. Amen I say to you, he will gird himself, and will make them recline at table, and will come and serve them. And if he comes in the second watch, and if in the third, and finds them so, blessed are those servants! But of this be assured, that if the householder had known at what hour the thief was coming, he would certainly have watched, and not have let his house be broken into. You also must be ready, because at an hour that you do not expect, the Son of Man is coming.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON FRANCO BROGI (**,1)
Dalla seconda lettera di San Paolo apostolo a Timoteo.
Carissimo: Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Gesù Cristo, che ha da venire a giudicare i vivi ed i morti, per la sua venuta e per il suo regno: predica la Parola, insisti a tempo opportuno e fuori tempo.
Dal Vangelo secondo S. Matteo.
In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: “Voi siete il sale della terra. E se il sale perde il suo sapore, come lo si riattiverà?”
Dice il Signore: “Chi violerà anche uno dei comandamenti, anche minimo, [della Legge di Mose’ o di Gesu’ Cristo] e insegnerà così agli uomini, sarà tenuto minimo nel regno dei cieli; ma colui che avrà operato ed insegnato, sarà tenuto grande nel regno dei cieli.”
Oggi ricordiamo S. Cirillo vescovo, di Alessandria d’Egitto e la S. Martire Apollonia.
Ci piace pensare che Apollonia abbia coltivato la fede di Cirillo. Al tempo dell’eresia Nestorio, Cirillo riesce a far approvare il dogma della doppia natura di Gesu’, sia umana che divina e di Maria Theotokos, cioe’ Madre di Dio. Pertanto dobbiamo essere grati a S, Cirillo se oggi possiamo chiamare Maria Madre di Dio!
Dobbiamo, come Maria, cercare di adorare Gesu’ come Redentore e figlio di Dio. Continuando a studiare il catechismo in ogni sua parte per rafforzare la nostra fede.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

From the second letter of Saint Paul the apostle to Timothy.
Dearest: I adjure you before God and Jesus Christ, who is to come to judge the living and the dead, for his coming and for his kingdom: preach the Word, insist in season and out of season. From the Gospel according to St. Matthew.
At that time Jesus said to his disciples: “You are the salt of the earth. And if the salt loses its flavor, how will it be reactivated?” The Lord says: “Whoever violates even one of the commandments, even the least, [of the Law of Moses or of Jesus Christ] and teaches men so, will be considered least in the kingdom of heaven; but he who works and teaches will be held great in the kingdom of heaven.” Today we remember St. Cyril, bishop of Alexandria in Egypt and the St. Martyr Apollonia. We like to think that Apollonia cultivated Cyril’s faith. At the time of the Nestorius heresy, Cyril manages to get the dogma of the double nature of Jesus, both human and divine, and of Mary Theotokos, that is, Mother of God, approved. Therefore we must be grateful to St. Cyril if today we can call Mary Mother of God! We must, like Mary, try to adore Jesus as Redeemer and son of God. Continuing to study the catechism in all its parts to strengthen our faith.
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
