In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Amen, amen, dico vobis, nisi granum fruménti cadens in terram, mórtuum fúerit, ipsum solum manet: si autem mórtuum fúerit, multum fructum affért. Qui amat ánimam suam, perdet eam: et qui odit ánimam suam in hoc mundo, in vitam ætérnam custódit eam. Si quis mihi mínistrat, me sequátur: et ubi sum ego, illic et miníster meus erit. Si quis mihi ministráverit, honorificábit eum Pater meus.

At that time, Jesus said to His Disciples, “Amen, amen, I say to you, unless the grain of wheat falls into the ground and dies, it remains alone. But if it dies, it brings forth much fruit. DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)

Dalla lettera di san Paolo apostolo ai Romani.
Fratelli: Chi potrà separarci dall’amore di Cristo?  Nessuna tribolazione, difficolta’, ostacolo, guerra, fame e nemmeno nessuna creatura [e nessun falso maestro], nulla potra’ distrarci da Cristo!

Dal Vangelo secondo S. Giovanni.

In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «In verità, in verità vi dico: se il chicco di frumento gettato in terra non muore, rimane infecondo; se invece muore, produce molto frutto».  

Oggi festeggiamo S. Ignazio vescovo martire di Antiochia vissuto tra il I e II secolo, terzo successore di S. Pietro. Antiochia e’ la seconda comunita’ cristiana dopo Gerusalemme. Muore martire felice di dare la sua vita. Il Vangelo di oggi si applica molto bene al suo sacrificio.

Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

From the letter of Saint Paul the apostle to the Romans.

Brothers: Who can separate us from the love of Christ? No tribulation, difficulty, obstacle, war, hunger and not even any creature [and no false teacher], nothing will be able to distract us from Christ!

From the Gospel according to St. John. At that time Jesus said to his disciples: «Truly, truly, I say to you: unless a grain of wheat thrown on the ground dies, it remains barren; but if it dies, it produces much fruit.” Today we celebrate St. Ignatius, martyr bishop of Antioch who lived between the 1st and 2nd centuries, third successor of St. Peter. Antioch is the second largest Christian community after Jerusalem. He dies a martyr happy to give his life. Today’s Gospel applies very well to his sacrifice.

Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
