Matt 8:1-13
In illo témpore: Cum descendísset Iesus de monte, secútæ sunt eum turbæ multæ: et ecce, leprósus véniens adorábat eum, dicens: Dómine, si vis, potes me mundáre. Et exténdens Iesus manum, tétigit eum, dicens: Volo. Mundáre. Et conféstim mundáta est lepra eius. Et ait illi Iesus: Vide, némini díxeris: sed vade, osténde te sacerdóti, et offer munus, quod præcépit Móyses, in testimónium illis. Cum autem introísset Caphárnaum, accéssit ad eum centúrio, rogans eum et dicens: Dómine, puer meus iacet in domo paralýticus, et male torquetur. Et ait illi Iesus: Ego véniam, et curábo eum. Et respóndens centúrio, ait: Dómine, non sum dignus, ut intres sub tectum meum: sed tantum dic verbo, et sanábitur puer meus. Nam et ego homo sum sub potestáte constitútus, habens sub me mílites, et dico huic: Vade, et vadit; et alii: Veni, et venit; et servo meo: Fac hoc, et facit. Audiens autem Iesus, mirátus est, et sequéntibus se dixit: Amen, dico vobis, non inveni tantam fidem in Israël. Dico autem vobis, quod multi ab Oriénte et Occidénte vénient, et recúmbent cum Abraham et Isaac et Iacob in regno cœlórum: fílii autem regni eiiciéntur in ténebras exterióres: ibi erit fletus et stridor déntium. At that time, when Jesus had come down from the mountain, great crowds followed Him. And behold, a leper came up and worshipped Him, saying, Lord, if You will, You can make me clean. And stretching forth His hand Jesus touched him, saying, I will; be made clean. And immediately his leprosy was cleansed. And Jesus said to him, See that you tell no one; but go, show yourself to the priest, and offer the gift that Moses commanded, for a witness to them. Now when He had entered Capharnaum, there came to Him a centurion who entreated Him, saying, Lord, my servant is lying sick in the house, paralyzed, and is grievously afflicted. Jesus said to him, I will come and cure him. But in answer the centurion said, Lord, I am not worthy that You should come under my roof; but only say the word, and my servant will be healed. For I too am a man subject to authority, and have soldiers subject to me; and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes; and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes; and to my servant, ‘Do this,’ and he does it. And when Jesus heard this, He marveled, and said to those who were following Him, Amen I say to you, I have not found such great faith in Israel. And I tell you that many will come from the east and from the west and will feast with Abraham and Isaac and Jacob in the kingdom of heaven, but the children of the kingdom will be put forth into the darkness outside; there will be the weeping, and the gnashing of teeth. Then Jesus said to the centurion, Go your way; as you have believed, so be it done to you. And the servant was healed in that hour.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
Dal lettera di S.Pietro apostolo ai Romani. Non vogliate essere sapienti ai vostri occhi. Abbiate cura di fare bene non solo agli occhi di Dio, ma anche davanti agli uomini. Non fatevi giustizia da voi stessi, ma lasciate farlo alla giustizia divina!
Dal Vangelo secondo S. Matteo. Gesu’ guarisce un lebbroso che ha grande fede in lui raccomandandogli poi di presentarsi in sinagoga per farsi registrare come guarito e fare i sacrifici previsti. Quindi incontra un centurione romano, pertanto un pagano (un gentile) ma pieno di fede in Gesu’ (“non sono degno che tu entri nella mica casa”). Gesu’ si meraviglia della sua fede e per questo gli guarisce subito un suo schiavo che gli era caro come un figlio. Gesu’ afferma quindi che i gentili accoglieranno il Vangelo prima del popolo di Israele.
Siamo anche noi nella medesima situazione: occorre grande fede in Gesu’! Ci dividiamo sia sul da farsi. Ma occorre invece consolidare la fede e portare avanti la nostra purificazione, senza la quale, non possiamo ottenere nulla!
Magari ci fossero vescovi che ne parlassero dato che possiedono la grazia della sapienza. Ma anche noi possiamo e dobbiamo discernere! Per questo dobbiamo chiedere nella preghiera il dono della fede e del discernimento!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

From the letter of St. Peter the Apostle to the Romans.
Do not be wise in your own eyes. Take care to do well not only in the eyes of God, but also in the eyes of men. Do not take justice into your own hands, but leave it to divine justice!
From the Gospel according to St. Matthew.
Jesus heals a leper who has great faith in him and then recommends him to show up in the synagogue to be registered as healed and make the required sacrifices. Then he meets a Roman centurion, therefore a pagan (a Gentile) but full of faith in Jesus (“I am not worthy of you entering my house”). Jesus is amazed at his faith and for this reason he immediately heals one of his slaves who was as dear to him as a son. Jesus therefore states that the Gentiles will welcome the Gospel before the people of Israel. We too are in the same situation: great faith in Jesus is needed! We are divided on what to do. But instead we need to consolidate our faith and carry on our purification, without which we cannot achieve anything! I wish there were bishops who spoke about it since they possess the grace of wisdom. But we too can and must discern! For this reason we must ask in prayer for the gift of faith and discernment!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
