Luc 12:32-34
In illo témpore: Dixit Iesus discípulis suis: Nolíte timére, pusíllus grex, quia complácuit Patri vestro dare vobis regnum. Véndite quæ possidétis, et date eleemósynam. Fácite vobis sácculos, qui non veteráscunt, thesáurum non deficiéntem in cœlis: quo fur non apprópiat, neque tínea corrúmpit. Ubi enim thesáuros vester est, ibi et cor vestrum erit.

At that time, Jesus said to His disciples, Do not be afraid, little flock, for it has pleased your Father to give you the kingdom. Sell what you have and give alms. Make for yourselves purses that do not grow old, a treasure unfailing in heaven, where neither thief draws near nor moth destroys. For where your treasure is, there also will your heart be.

DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
2 Cor 8:9-15
Fratelli, voi conoscete la grazia del Signor nostro Gesù Cristo che, essendo ricco, si fece povero per voi, affinché voi mediante la sua povertà diventaste ricchi. E in questo vi do un consiglio, poiché ciò è utile a voi, che fin dall’anno scorso foste i primi non solo a fare la colletta, ma anche a volerla; ed ora conducetela a termine, affinché alla pronta volontà corrisponda il compire l’opera, secondo i vostri mezzi. Se infatti la volontà è pronta, riesce gradita per quello che uno ha, non per quello che non ha. Non si tratta di procurare sollievo agli altri e a voi penuria, ma uguaglianza. Al presente la vostra abbondanza supplisca alla loro indigenza, affinché la loro abbondanza supplisca alla vostra indigenza, e ci sia uguaglianza secondo quanto è detto: «Chi aveva raccolto molto, non ne ebbe di troppo, e chi poco, non ne ebbe scarsità».

In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «Non temere, piccolo gregge, perché è piaciuto al Padre vostro di dare a voi il regno. Vendete i vostri beni e dateli in elemosina. Fatevi delle borse che non invecchiano, un tesoro che mai vien meno nei cieli, dove il ladro non giunge e la tignuola non consuma; dove è il vostro tesoro ci sarà pure il vostro cuore».
Oggi celebriamo la memoria di San Paolino da Nola. Di famiglia romana erano magistrati dell’impero.
Erano buoni cristiani e alla morte del figli San Paolino e la moglie si consacrarono entrambi. Lui diventa vescovo di Nola proprio durante l’invasione barbarica dei Goti.
E’ un’epoca di grande crisi. Per questo Paolino, come vescovo, promosse l’elemosina per i poveri liquidando per loro tutte le sue proprieta’.
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

2 Cor. 8:9-15
Brethren: You know the graciousness of our Lord Jesus Christ – how, being rich, He became poor for your sakes, that by His poverty you might become rich. In this matter I am giving advice. It is to your interest, since a year ago you not only began to do, but also to have the will. Now therefore complete the doing also; so that your readiness to begin it may be equaled by your desire to carry it through, according to your ability. For if there is willingness, it is welcome according to what one has, not according to what one does not have. For I do not mean that the relief of others should become your burden, but that there should be equality; that at the present time your abundance may supply their want, and that their abundance may, in its turn, make up what you lack, thus establishing an equality, as it is written, He who had much had nothing over, and he who had little had not less.

Today we celebrate the memory of San Paolino da Nola. From Roman families they were magistrates of the empire.
They were good Christians and on the death of their son St. Paulinus and his wife both consecrated themselves. He becomes bishop of Nola during the barbarian invasion of the Goths.
It is a time of great crisis. For this Paulinus, as bishop, promoted almsgiving for the poor by liquidating all his properties for them.
