DALL’OMELIA DI DON ENRICO RONCAGLIA (**,1)
2 Tim 4:1-8
Carissimo: Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Gesù Cristo, che ha da venire a giudicare i vivi ed i morti, per la sua venuta e per il suo regno: predica la Parola, insisti a tempo opportuno e fuori tempo. Riprendi, esorta, sgrida con paziente insegnamento; perché verrà tempo in cui la gente non potrà sopportare la sana dottrina, ma per assecondare la propria passione e per prurito di novità, si creerà una folla di maestri, e per non ascoltare la verità andrà dietro a favole. Ma tu veglia sopra tutte le cose, sopporta le afflizioni, compi l’ufficio di predicare il Vangelo, adempi il tuo ministero e sii temperante. In quanto a me, il mio sangue sta per essere versato come una libazione e il tempo del mio scioglimento dal corpo è vicino. Ho combattuto la buona battaglia, ho conservato la fede. Non mi resta che ricevere la corona di giustizia, che mi darà in quel giorno il Signore, giusto giudice; e non solo a me, ma anche a quelli che desiderano la sua venuta.
Matt 5:13-19
In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «Voi siete il sale della terra. E se il sale perde la sua virtù, come lo si riattiverà? Non è più buono che ad essere gettato via e calpestato dalla gente. Voi siete la luce del mondo. Non può rimanere nascosta una città posta sopra un monte. Né si accende la lucerna per riporla sotto il moggio, ma sul candeliere, perché faccia lume a quanti sono in casa. Così risplenda la vostra luce dinanzi agli uomini, affinché vedano le vostre opere buone e glorifichino il Padre vostro che è nei cieli. Non crediate che io sia venuto ad abrogare la Legge o i Profeti, ma a completare. In verità vi dico che finché non passi il cielo e la terra non passerà un solo iota o un apice solo della Legge, che tutto non sia compiuto. Chi pertanto violerà uno dei minimi di questi comandamenti e insegnerà così agli uomini, sarà tenuto minimo nel regno dei cieli; ma colui che avrà operato ed insegnato, sarà tenuto grande nel regno dei cieli».
Oggi ricordiamo San Pietro Canisio, confessore e dottore della Chiesa, gesuita vissuto nel 1500. Predico’ ai popoli di lingua tedesca. Converti tanti in quei paesi, specialmente Austria e Renania. Intervenne come teologo nel Conciclio di Trento. E’ lui l’autore del catechismo approvato dello stesso Concilio.
Chia avra praticato e insegnato tutti i precetti di Dio avra’ un posto importante nel Regno di Dio. Ma chi trascurera’ anche una sola iota o una virgola sara’ ultimo nel Regno di Dio! Da cio’ infatti discende la salvezza delle anime!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

2 Tim 4:1-8
Dearly beloved: I charge thee, before God and Jesus Christ, who shall judge the living and the dead, by his coming, and his kingdom: Preach the word: be instant in season, out of season: reprove, entreat, rebuke in all patience and doctrine. For there shall be a time, when they will not endure sound doctrine; but, according to their own desires, they will heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears: And will indeed turn away their hearing from the truth, but will be turned unto fables. But be thou vigilant, labour in all things, do the work of an evangelist, fulfill thy ministry. Be sober. For I am even now ready to be sacrificed: and the time of my dissolution is at hand. I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith. As to the rest, there is laid up for me a crown of justice, which the Lord the just judge will render to me in that day: and not only to me, but to them also that love his coming.
Matt 5:13-19
In that time Jesus said to His disciples: You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.
Today we remember St. Peter Canisius, confessor and doctor of the Church, a Jesuit who lived in 1500. He preached to the German-speaking peoples. Convert many in those countries, especially Austria and Rhineland. He intervened as a theologian in the Council of Trent. He is the author of the catechism approved by the same Council.
Whoever has practiced and taught all the precepts of God will have an important place in the Kingdom of God. But whoever neglects even one iota or a comma will be last in the Kingdom of God! In fact, the salvation of souls comes from this!
Praised be Jesus Christ! Always be praised!
