Vos estis lux mundi. Non potest cívitas abscóndi supra montem pósita. Neque accéndunt lucérnam, et ponunt eam sub módio, sed super candelábrum, ut lúceat ómnibus qui in domo sunt. In that time, Jesus said to His disciples: You are the salt of the earth. But if the salt lose its savour, wherewith shall it be salted? It is good for nothing any more but to be cast out, and to be trodden on by men. You are the light of the world. A city seated on a mountain cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle and put it under a bushel, but upon a candlestick, that it may shine to all that are in the house. So let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father who is in heaven. Do not think that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets. I am not come to destroy, but to fulfill. For amen I say unto you, till heaven and earth pass, one jot, or one tittle shall not pass of the law, till all be fulfilled. He therefore that shall break one of these least commandments, and shall so teach men, shall be called the least in the kingdom of heaven. But he that shall do and teach, he shall be called great in the kingdom of heaven.

Carissimo: Ti scongiuro davanti a Dio e a Gesù Cristo, che ha da venire a giudicare i vivi ed i morti, per la sua venuta e per il suo regno: predica la Parola, insisti a tempo opportuno e fuori tempo. Riprendi, esorta, sgrida con paziente insegnamento; perché verrà tempo in cui la gente non potrà sopportare la sana dottrina, ma, per assecondare la propria passione e per prurito di novità, si creerà una folla di maestri, e per non ascoltare la verità andrà dietro a favole.

In quel tempo Gesù disse ai suoi discepoli: «Voi siete il sale della terra. E se il sale perde la sua virtù, come lo si riattiverà? Non è più buono che ad essere gettato via e calpestato dalla gente. Voi siete la luce del mondo. Non può rimanere nascosta una città posta sopra un monte. Né si accende la lucerna per riporla sotto il moggio, ma sul candeliere, perché faccia lume a quanti sono in casa.
Oggi festeggiamo Sant’Antonio da Padova, al secolo Fernando Martins de Bulhões, noto in Portogallo (2) come Antonio da Lisbona (Lisbona, 15 agosto 1195 – Padova, 13 giugno 1231), un santo molto popolare da secoli. Si tratta di una grazia del Signore donarci anime sante come Sant’Antonio.
Fu discepolo di San Francesco. Fu predicatore pieno di fervore, combattente delle eresie e taumaturgo.
Preghiamo la sua intercessione affinche’ possiamo diventare, come dice Gesu’, luce del mondo!
Sia lodato Gesu’ Cristo! Sempre sia lodato!

2 Tim 4: 1-8 Dearest: I adjure you before God and Jesus Christ, who has to come to judge the living and the dead, for his coming and for his kingdom: preach the Word, insist at the right time and out of time. Reprimand, exhort, scold with patient teaching; because the time will come when people will not be able to bear sound doctrine, but, in order to indulge their passion and out of itch for novelty, a crowd of teachers will be created, and in order not to listen to the truth they will go after fables.

Today we celebrate Saint Anthony of Padua, aka Fernando Martins de Bulhões, known in Portugal (2) as Anthony of Lisbon (Lisbon, 15 August 1195 – Padua, 13 June 1231), a very popular saint for centuries.
It is a grace of the Lord to give us holy souls like Saint Anthony.
He was a disciple of San Francesco.
He was a fervent preacher, a fighter of heresies and a thaumaturge.
Let us pray for his intercession so that we may become, as Jesus says, the light of the world “!
